Full Job Description
We are currently recruiting for a Lead Operations and Maintenance Technician (LOMT) at Bayonne Energy Center (BEC) in Bayonne NJ. BEC is a state-of-the-art 644 MW facility that employs ten (10) Siemens SGT-A65 gas turbines. In this role you will be primarily responsible for coordination of all on shift operations. These responsibilities include the safe operation of all plant equipment throughout a variety of operational scenarios from cold plant start up to emergency operations during plant upsets. This critical position requires excellent troubleshooting, decision making, and leadership skills. Qualified candidates must be able to work in the United States without visa sponsorship and have 3-5 years of Power Plant experience. Must also have a strong understanding of plant equipment, systems, and operations procedures including Generators, Gas Turbines, SCRs and CEMS.

Annual Salary is approved between $114,400 - $135,000 depending on skillset and experience. A 10% bonus offered based on performance of plant.

Job Responsibilities

  • Continuously monitor the status and performance of all Simple-Cycle Plant systems, including Combustion Turbines, SCR's, Gas Compressors, Generators, and other Plant Auxiliary Systems and Instrumentation.
  • Observe, record, and trend operating data from control systems and field instrumentation, identifying deviations from prescribed operating limits and procedures.
  • Respond to alarms, abnormal conditions, and plant upsets by taking appropriate corrective actions in accordance with approved operating procedures and plant directives.
  • Execute plant start-up, shutdown, and load changes as required to meet operational and dispatch requirements.
  • Perform periodic field inspections, including visual and audible checks of equipment, to identify abnormal conditions, leaks, vibration, or other indicators of potential equipment issues.
  • Maintain accurate and timely shift logs and operating records, documenting operating conditions, alarms, maintenance activities, and actions taken during the shift.
  • Conduct thorough and effective shift turnovers, clearly communicating plant status, operating conditions, outstanding issues, and safety concerns to incoming personnel.
  • Identify and resolve CEMS problems. Assist in calibrations and gas bottle change outs as needed.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts for technical issues and diagnose equipment failures/anomalies in collaboration the BEC team.
  • Identify and report plant abnormalities, unsafe conditions, or hazards to appropriate personnel and coordinate corrective actions.
  • Administers the WAF, Lockout/Tagout, Hot Work, and Confined Space Programs.
  • Actively lead and participate in Ethos Energy's Safety, Environmental, and Regulatory Compliance Programs, maintaining good housekeeping practices and supporting a safe working environment while fostering a strong culture of safety among the team.
Required Skills / Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of plant equipment, systems, and operational procedures, including Generators, Gas Turbines, and SCR's and CEMS systems.
  • Demonstrates the ability to make competent decisions in emergency situations.
  • Capable of writing operating procedures, work requests, and purchase orders.
  • Demonstrates the ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical one-lines, logic drawings, technical manuals, and P&ID's
  • Demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills.
Experience

  • Must have 3-5 years of Power Plant experience.
  • Four to six years related experience and/or training; or a combination of experience and/or education preferred.
Education Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor's Degree (BS) or equivalent from a four-year college or technical school; or four to six years related experience and/or training; or a combination of experience and/or education preferred.
Physical Requirements

  • Physical demands include sitting or standing for extended periods of time, climbing multiple levels of stairs, climbing ladders over 50 feet in height, entering and exiting equipment cabs, traversing uneven or elevated surfaces. The lifting of up to 50 pounds.
