Full Job Description

Lead, NPD Sourcing Operations is a leadership role and key leader within the Quality organization with a dotted line to Direct Sourcing. This role owns the sourcing strategy for Original Design Manufacturer (ODM) and Contract Manufacturing (CM) NPD engagements across the full New Product Development lifecycle — from prototype through mass production handoff. This individual serves as the senior liaison between Category Sourcing, Engineering, Product Management, and external ODM/CM suppliers, escalation point for supplier risk, and decision-maker on sourcing strategy and program direction. This individual is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the supply chain across multiple NPD programs.

  • Own end-to-end ODM/CM engagement strategy from RFP through supplier selection, setting direction for sourcing deliverables during POC, EVT, DVT, PVT, and MP ramp and holding the team accountable to them
  • Set and own the ODM/CM sourcing strategy for all new product introductions, aligning with category sourcing leadership on selection based on product, volume, and technology requirements of new and upcoming projects
  • Lead and own make-vs-buy analyses and ODM-vs-Nogales trade-off assessments for new products
  • Lead DVF/toll gate reviews and ensure sourcing deliverables are met at each development phase
  • Serve as the primary Sourcing representative for NPD teams
  • Manage alignment with Program Management on ODM/CM deliverables and product launch schedules
  • Independently and proactively manage, help support or lead resolution of supplier risks that could impact time-to-market
  • Manage and report on ODM/CM manufacturing capacity, ensuring supply commitments are aligned with product launch timelines and demand forecasts
  • Manage development of PowerPoint decks covering program status, costs, sourcing risks, decisions, blockers, mitigations, and timelines
  • Lead meetings cross-functionally to facilitate decision making and drive clarity
  • Engage and communicate with VP+ and executive-level stakeholders on a regular basis to communicate and align on project status and sourcing strategy
  • Own and approve project scope agreements (e.g. SOW) including NRE, tooling, unit pricing, capacity commitments, and IP ownership
  • Manage NRE budgets, tooling amortization, and total cost of ownership analysis with Finance and Product Management for make-vs-buy decisions or other analysis purposes
  • Lead supplier meetings as needed; hold suppliers accountable to commitments and conflict resolution
  • Lead complex negotiations and serve as the sourcing escalation point for the project team
  • Manage alignment with Mechanical, Electrical, and Systems Engineering during design phases on product requirements versus ODM quotation and scope of work.
  • Lead IP discussions with Legal in supplier engagements and manage category sourcing follow-up to ensure proper documentation is in place when necessary
