Full Job Description
General Purpose:

Responsible for leading mechanical design teams and making deliverables for engineering and construction projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manage the creation of mechanical engineering deliverables for industrial EPC projects.
  • Advise on design principles and standards.
  • Develop and revise engineering standards and technical specifications.
  • Develop concepts and coordinate the completion of associated 3D models with the design team.
  • Lead Design Reviews and Lesson Learned sessions.
  • Provide project estimating support for proposals.
  • Lead and/or support multiple projects at any given time.
  • Coordinate the activities of the design operation including organizing staff, allocating, prioritizing, and reviewing the work of subordinates, providing technical advice and instruction.
  • Provide technical support for ongoing construction projects or operating sites.
  • Provide technical oversight, mentorship, and peer review to junior Engineers and Designers.
  • Monitor and report weekly on the status of current projects.
  • Develop and promote good customer relationships, both internal and external.
  • Assists in the recruitment and selection of Mechanical staff.
  • Effectively communicate and project the principles of the Talent Advantaged Roadmap.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by manager/supervisor.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering with experience in industrial design.
  • A Professional Engineer License is a plus.
  • Display a good working knowledge of industry standards, engineering practices, good mechanical aptitude, and general knowledge of heavy industrial EPC projects.
  • Working knowledge of design code standards and specifications (ASME, ASCE, ACI, AISC, IBC).
  • Ability to organize, allocate, prioritize, review, instruct and train colleagues.
  • Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills at all levels within the company.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Proficient in engineering and design tools (AutoCAD, Inventor, Fusion, CAESAR, etc.) is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, with Advanced skills in Excel.

Physical Requirements: Will regularly sit, use of hands/fingers, talk/hear. Will occasionally stand, walk, grasp, reach w/ hands/arms, bend/stoop/kneel/squat/crawl. Lift up to 10lbs. Near vision. Ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment: Will regularly be in an office. For the most part, ambient room temperatures, lighting and traditional office equipment as found in typical office environment. Moderate noise level. Employees must use personal protective equipment as deemed necessary by the industry/construction safety standards and/or by McCarl's safety policy and procedures.
