We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer with a strong background in electronics packaging to join our dynamic engineering team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in the defense industry, demonstrating expertise in the design, analysis, and implementation of packaging solutions for electronic systems. This role will involve collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to develop innovative solutions that meet stringent military specifications and operational requirements.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the design and development of robust electronics packaging solutions that ensure the reliability and durability of electronic systems in harsh environments.
  • Conduct thermal, vibration, and stress analyses to validate packaging designs and ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Collaborate with electrical engineers and system designers to integrate packaging solutions seamlessly with electronic components.
  • Oversee prototyping, testing, and validation of packaging designs, ensuring they meet performance criteria and safety regulations.
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation for design processes, materials specifications, and testing protocols.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineering team members, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends to inform packaging design and materials selection.
  • Participate in project planning and management activities, including risk assessments and resource allocation.
  • Ensure adherence to project deadlines and budgets while maintaining high-quality standards in engineering deliverables.
  • Collaborate with compliance teams to identify and document export-controlled items, maintain accurate records, and support audits or inquiries related to export classification.


Qualifications

You Must Have:
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a focus on electronics packaging in the defense industry.
  • Proficient in CAD software (PTC Creo preferred) and simulation tools (ANSYS preferred) for mechanical analysis.
  • Strong understanding of materials and processes used in electronics packaging, including thermal management and environmental protection strategies.
  • Familiarity with MIL-STD and other defense-related regulations and standards.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Effective communication and project management skills, with the capability to convey technical concepts to non-engineering stakeholders.

We Value:
  • Experience with additive manufacturing and other advanced manufacturing techniques in packaging applications.
  • Knowledge of environmental testing methods (e.g., MIL-STD-810) and reliability engineering principles.
  • Security clearance or eligibility for security clearance is a plus.

Due to compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, candidate must be a U.S. person, which is defined as, a U.S. citizen, a U.S. permanent resident, or have protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status.

The annual base salary range for this position is $123,000 - $154,000. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline. Honeywell considers various factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education and training, key skills, as well as market and business considerations.
