Job Description

The Lead Launch Electrical Coordinator is the key person to support the plant’s achievement of the Electrical First Time Quality (EFTQ) glidepath during vehicle program launch. This person will lead the Launch Electrical Team and be responsible for implementation of all Electrical Bill of Operations (BoO) elements.This role participates in the GM Automotive Manufacturing Electrical College(AMEC)for thorough training before launch activities begin.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Launch (New,Majors, MCM, MCM&P)

  • Be a member of the plant’s Electrical Team - an integrated, technical organization consisting of members from Manufacturing, Quality, Supplier Quality and Product Development organizations focused on problem solving the plant’s top external and internal quality problems.

  • Ensure everyone on the electrical team hasaccess to the teamspage

  • Complete required training at various sites around GM and suppliers. (Travel is required in this role)

  • Take ownership of electrical processes for launching vehicle program, driving all electrical problems to resolution, including plant defects and engineering-related issues.

  • Lead the Launch Electrical Process Coordinator, Launch Electrical Wiring Coordinator, and Launch Electrical Diagnosticians

  • Ensure compliance to the Electrical Bill of Operations (BoO), particularly the LaunchPlan

  • Lead weekly leadership reviews

  • Participate in applicable launch activities such as virtual, prototype, and validation builds to support plant readiness (travel required)

  • Participate in applicable Vehicle Systems ME led Architecture working calls for understanding new product and making plant specific assessments on issues

  • Participate in virtual builds/reviewsfor applicable Program Virtual Assessment gates

  • Host/support In Plant Wiring Assessments (WHA 4)

  • Support the Electrical IRT

  • Supportplantreadiness forMVB builds(i.e.Launch Plan)

  • Ensure the JES and GSIP havematching terminologyforrepair and productionoperators by supplying standard language for core team usebased on IVEDs.

  • Document lessons learned for process and product improvements.

  • Create actionable items from electrical failures to enable issue documentation and follow up.

  • Utilize the plant qualityreporting systems (i.e. GSIP/MERS/PRTS/SPPS) to identify and eliminate process / product variation. 

  • Utilize the applicable planttesting systems (ieNGFTT/GBFTT, AVT, DVT) to improve and correlate plant electrical performance to plant warranty data.

  • Reports pass rate performance for all applicable in plant testing systems (ieNGFTT/GBFTT, VAST, DVT) and leads corrective action plans.

  • Support GCA

  • Conduct training of vehicle electrical systems for Team Leaders so they can support their Team Members using the Electrical Training Boards, PADs, JES, TIS, etc.

  • Lead disconnect workshop during launch to develop database for repair faults (knowledge basedrepair systems) in GSIPbetween PVBnsand PVBs

  • Learn new technologies associated with Electrical Architecture and effectively transfer key learnings to appropriate plant team members

  • Effectively transfer key learnings to and from other launches at other GM facilities

  • Thorough working knowledge of GMS as well supporting BIQ4 Deliverables.

  • Will report to theVehicle Electrical Systems Managerfor the plant

  • Report outEFTQ Launchperformance on a weekly basis

  • Root cause analysis reports for top electrical issuesfor launch team

  • Track all issues to close prior to SORP

  • Make sure all elements of the Electrical Bill of Operations are implemented

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)​​:

  • 3+ years of experience in a electrical/manufacturing environment.

  • Ability to lead technical people with managerial courage.

  • Strong interpersonal and team building skills.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills, particularly to translate highly complex technical issues to non-technical people.

  • Self-motivated and innovative.

  • Strong analytical ability.

  • Able to make decisions quickly with a high level of confidence.

What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):​

  • 5+ years previous experience with automotive electrical sub-systems.

  • Thorough working knowledge of GMS and supporting BIQ4 Deliverables.

  • Bachelors Degree

This role is categorized as onsite. This means the selected candidate is expected to report to a specific location on a full-time basis. The selected candidate will be required to travel <25% for this role. This job may be eligible for relocation benefits.
