Lead Highway Design Technician, you will play a pivotal role in delivering complex transportation projects, bringing technical excellence, innovation, and leadership to multidisciplinary teams. Your expertise in Civil 3D and highway design will help create safer, more resilient, and more connected communities while influencing the next generation of transportation solutions.
Your Impact- Lead the development and delivery of highway, roadway, and transportation infrastructure designs using Civil 3D and industry best practices.
- Produce and oversee high-quality design models, drawings, plan/profile packages, corridors, grading, and quantity calculations for complex projects.
- Collaborate with engineers, planners, environmental specialists, and project managers to deliver integrated transportation solutions.
- Champion technical excellence by establishing and maintaining design quality standards across project teams.
- Guide and mentor junior designers and technicians, supporting knowledge sharing and professional growth.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary design inputs to support successful project delivery from planning through construction.
- Apply innovation and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance project efficiency, consistency, and client outcomes.
- Contribute to meaningful infrastructure projects that improve mobility, safety, sustainability, and community connectivity.
The Skills That Set You Apart- Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Engineering Design, or a related discipline.
- Extensive experience delivering highway, roadway, or transportation infrastructure projects.
- Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Civil 3D, including corridors, alignments, profiles, grading, surfaces, and quantity take-offs.
- Demonstrated experience leading design production teams and coordinating technical deliverables across disciplines.
- Strong knowledge of transportation design standards and drafting best practices; experience with BC Ministry of Transportation and Transit standards is highly valued.
- Proven ability to review, troubleshoot, and optimise complex design models and construction drawing packages.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills with the ability to build trusted relationships across project teams and clients.
- Commitment to health, safety, quality, and continuous improvement, with the ability to support field reviews and occasional site visits as required.
CompensationAB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $104,100 - $138,000
MB & ON: $95,000 - $130,800
NB, NL, NS, PE & QC: $94,100 - $124,900
