Lead Hand ShaftAbout the roleThe Lead Hand Shaft offers an exceptional opportunity to lead and oversee the operation, maintenance, and repairs of all shafts at RLO. "This role is to recruit for an existing vacancy".
The position will be on a 7/7 (12 - hour day) roster and although residential is preferred, we are open to FIFO or DIDO arrangements.
We offer a competitive salary, bonus structure and future growth. The compensation range for this role is $115,000 to $150,000 CAD.
Key result areas in this role include:
- Lead team members to safely maintain and operate all shafts onsite.
- Track and monitor daily hoist tonnages.
- Chair safety and production meetings.
- Strive to meet daily, weekly and monthly production targets.
- Assist and lead the development of daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly maintenance and inspection schedules for each shaft.
- Collaborate with others and network with other departments.
- Ensure workplaces operate within a safe environment.
- Read and monitor shaft and hoist logbooks daily; and address any issues accordingly.
- Maintain a working knowledge and understanding of Ontario's Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHS), R.R.O. 1990, Regulation 854, Mines and Mining Plants, including regulations for underground mining, hoisting, surface operations and mine process plants.
- Actively report and investigate safety incidents.
- Review and evaluate employee performance and provide coaching as required.
- Comply with federal and provincial acts and regulations, and legal requirements.
- Adhere to all relevant group policies, standards, and site procedures.
- Effectively share best practices with your peers across the company.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
About youAs the Lead Hand Shaft, you will hold 5 years of shaft experience and have strong knowledge of shafts and hoisting plant and experience working at heights. It is also important that you have/ can demonstrate:
- Demonstrated leadership and managing a team
- Solid background and understanding of shafts and hoists
- Strong understanding of various mining methods and procedures
- Familiar with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations for Mines and Mining Plants and familiar with the underground mining environment
- Contributes to the overall team success
