About this Role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Market Risk Officer in the Futures Commission Merchant (FCM) Risk Management function in Enterprise Counterparty Risk Management (ECRM).
FCM Risk Management is responsible for the daily risk management, risk assessment, and monitoring of counterparty credit risk generated by the FCM businesses.
The successful candidate will be a key leader in the team, engaged in the management and oversight of portfolio risk, new business evaluation, margining framework and risk analysis.
In this role, you will:
Provide independent second-line oversight of FCM client risk, including margin adequacy, credit, liquidity, concentration, and cleared derivatives exposures across futures, options, and OTC clearing products.
Review and challenge risk management frameworks, including stress testing methodologies, house margin models, exposure monitoring processes, and default management practices to ensure risks are appropriately identified and controlled.
Monitor client portfolios and market conditions to assess the impact of volatility, margin changes, liquidity demands, and potential losses, ensuring exposures remain within approved risk appetite and concentration limits.
Partner with front office, sales, funding and liquidity, operations, and clearing teams to evaluate emerging risks, business strategies, new products, exchange offerings, and clearing arrangements.
Present risk assessments, portfolio trends, and emerging risk issues to senior management and governance committees, while providing leadership, mentorship, and technical guidance to junior risk professionals.
Required Qualifications
5+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: trading, desk analyst, Capital Markets, market risk, interest rate risk or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
Desired Qualifications:
FCM Risk, Futures Clearing, Exchange-Traded Derivatives Risk, Market Risk, Counterparty Risk
Strong understanding of Futures Commission Merchant (FCM) businesses, including listed futures, options on futures, cleared swaps, and exchange-traded derivatives.
Deep knowledge of clearinghouse (CCP) risk frameworks, including CME, ICE, and OCC margin methodologies and default management processes.
Experience with margin methodologies such as SPAN, SPAN 2, VaR-based frameworks, stress testing.
Demonstrated experience with MSCI RiskMetrics.
Knowledge of RCSA (Risk and Control Self‑Assessment) frameworks.
