Description
Our dynamic and successful Project Controls Group is seeking a full-time Lead Estimator to join their team. This position would be based in our Minneapolis, MN office. As a Lead Estimator, you will have the opportunity to work on transportation projects including Bus Rapid Transit, Light Rail, and complex roadway/bridge projects in the region. A candidate located in the Minneapolis metro area is preferred, but a hybrid or even fully remote position will be considered to find the best candidate. Growth opportunities include leading estimating efforts, training/developing younger staff, and implementing new strategies.
Responsibilities:- Prepare estimates at all project levels including conceptual, 30/60/90 percent design and during construction
- Lead estimate development for use in all areas of business lines
- Utilize major software tools such as HCSS Heavy Bid, Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, AGTEK, Trimble Business Center. Understanding and fluency in those software tools preferred
- Manage specific discipline tasks and serve as a point of contact for internal clients on multidisciplinary projects.
- Assist in managing medium to large/more complex projects.
- Lead small single-discipline focused projects and serve as a point of contact for external clients.
- Serves as trusted technical resource and demonstrates sound judgement.
- Develop project estimates in accordance with company standards
- Demonstrate leadership amongst their peers at a group level.
- Lead staff development and mentoring as well as supervision of other team members.
- Additional duties as assigned
Requirements
Required Qualifications: - Related 2- or 4-year degree, OR 5+ years' relevant experience without degree.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience
- Demonstrated experience as a supervisor
- Ability to obtain Estimating certification, AACE International preferred, other cost certifications may be considered.
- Contractor project experience preferred.
- Prior Department of Transportation experience in cost and schedule functions preferred.
- Knowledge in some phases of design development, construction, environmental and planning efforts.
- Strong ability to understand cost/schedule/risk relationships.
- Ability to promote and perform in a team environment.
- Ability to support conceptual cost efforts for transportation projects.
- Ability to build cost estimates from the beginning stage.
- Ability to write Basis of Estimate to AACE International standards.
- Great transparency in work products.
- Strong communication skills and ability to successfully interact with clients.
Salary: $108,000 - $130,000
Compensation is determined by various factors, including education, experience, skills, job location, internal equity, market analysis, and specific qualifications relevant to the role.
