Nature of WorkThe Lead Estimator oversees and coordinates comprehensive estimating services for assigned project pursuits. This role develops accurate cost estimates across various projects, ensuring thorough and precise evaluations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Properly manage assignments, including the review of work performed by others, to deliver projects on time while implementing quality control measures to ensure accuracy.
- Responsibility includes leading or assistance leading estimating and preconstruction efforts on projects as assigned.
- Scope and tabulate trade partner quotes for conformance with bid documents to determine the value of the work. Project assignments include critical, high value, complex and high-risk scopes. Expanded interaction with design partners including work in preconstruction services.
- Complete assignments in accordance with estimating project approach; implement quality control measures to ensure accuracy and completeness of estimates.
- Thoroughly review bid documents and contribute input to project approach plan, determine scope of work and required content of estimate. Provides risk analysis on assigned projects and proposes steps to mitigate risk.
- Identify conflicts and ambiguities within the bid documents and coordinate trades to work towards resolution to ensure complete scope and responsive bid.
- Performs cost analysis on assigned projects and organizes cost data to aid in budgeting and estimating cost.
- Assist with presentations to clients. Conducts internal presentation of projects, and project handoffs.
- Network of relationships amongst trade partners across major trades, and within the company.
- Take an active role in organizing and conducting project handoff meetings. Actively participate in the 360 project review process.
In addition to the above responsibilities, this position will be responsible for the following:
- Ability to perform all estimating project assignments.
- Demonstrates intermediate level technical skillset in project scheduling, constructability reviews, compiling cost data, cost analysis, budgeting, proposal response, preconstruction services, general conditions and contract requirements review, and value engineering.
- Works through complex tasks and problems, providing well thought out solutions and proposed ideas.
- Performs risk analysis on assigned projects and proposes steps to mitigate risk.
- Demonstrates sound project level leadership.
- Attention to Detail - Ability to monitor and verify the work of others for accuracy and completeness.
- Collaborating With Others - Builds consensus among team and provides constructive input.
- Continuous Learning - Maintains forward focus on learning and development to meet evolving needs of company and industry.
Qualifications- 8+ years of related work experience preferred.
- Field experience highly preferred.
Education- A minimum of a bachelor's degree from a four-year college, university, or equivalent experience.
Physicals Demands & Working Environment - Physical demands for this position are moderate. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. However, there may be walking, standing, bending or lifting moderately heavy (25-50 pounds) items. The work may require specific but common physical characteristics and abilities such as above-average agility and dexterity. Availability to travel as needed.
