Full Job Description
The Lead Engineer will have technical ownership of engine wiring harnesses for internal combustion engines. Responsibilities include component design and design validation, supporting cost reduction initiatives through alternate sourcing and remanufacturing process optimization, and providing manufacturing and assembly support at Wabtec's Grove City, PA engine facilities (GRV and GRR). This position is in-person, on-site, located in Grove City, PA. The role requires demonstrated experience in reciprocating engine development with component-level expertise to develop and evaluate designs that satisfy application-specific requirements for durability, performance, reliability, and total life-cycle cost. What do we want to know about you? - Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution; Master's degree preferred - 2-5 years of experience supporting reciprocating or internal combustion engine development - Knowledge of internal combustion engine component design, with experience in heavy-duty/off-road applications (e.g., locomotive, mining, industrial) - Demonstrated experience executing reliability improvement projects, including root cause analysis and verification/validation of solutions - Ability to develop and execute component validation plans and reliability analyses (including Weibull analysis) - Proven ability to deliver results and lead technical efforts in a dynamic, cross-functional environment with Sourcing, Manufacturing, and Quality teams - Strong project management, communication (oral and written), and interpersonal skills - Customer-centric mindset with effective team leadership and collaboration skills What will your typical day look like? - Provide engineering ownership and technical guidance for engine wiring harness design, development, integration and assembly. - Evaluate and disposition non-conforming material (use, repair, or scrap) in a timely manner to minimize manufacturing impact at the Grove City facility - Assist production and field service with troubleshooting electrical issues - Provide technical leadership to cross-functional teams supporting component reliability, cost reduction initiatives (alternate sourcing), and new product introduction - Author and manage engineering documentation, including CAD models, drawings, AutoCAD 2D point-to-point wiring schematics and specifications - Initiate and execute Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) to maintain accurate design documentation - Lead component-level DFMEAs and safety analyses - Ensure protection of company intellectual property throughout the product life cycle You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.
