Lead Engineer AI Developer Platform, | St Petersburg, Florida, United States Lead Engineer, AI Developer Platform Location: St Petersburg, FL, United States About the Role Join our team as a Lead Engineer for our internal AI-powered developer platform (AI Dev Kit), transforming the productivity of engineers across the firm. You'll own technical strategy, set architecture, and directly shape how our AI agents power modern development within IDEs. This hands-on leadership role places you at the heart of innovation, allowing you to build tools that empower every engineer while staying ahead in a rapidly evolving AI landscape. Responsibilities - Define and execute the technical vision for the AI Dev Kit, architecting a scalable, cross-platform solution. - Lead by example: write production code, review pull requests, and own high-impact feature delivery. - Design and implement seamless install experiences and robust telemetry for usage and cost insights. - Build and expand sandboxed environments, agent integrations, and enterprise connectors. - Continuously evaluate and adopt evolving AI models, tools, and orchestration patterns to keep the platform vendor-agnostic and future-proof. - Set and uphold engineering best practices, drive code quality, and manage incident response. - Mentor and technically lead contributors from across technology teams, fostering a federated development model. - Engage directly with internal users, gather feedback, and translate their needs into actionable roadmap items. - Run quarterly capability reviews and translate findings into tactical plans for platform evolution. Required Skills and Experience - 8+ years' senior engineering experience delivering enterprise-grade platforms, developer tooling, or large-scale services. - 2+ years hands-on with large language models or agentic systems. - Demonstrated expertise in building or extending agentic coding tools and IDE integrations (e.g., Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, VS Code). - Strong Python coding skills; proficiency with Node.js/TypeScript. - Experience designing integrations between AI coding tools and external systems (e.g., LangChain, Copilot, JetBrains plugins). - Deep knowledge of at least one production AI coding tool and LLM providers with a provider-agnostic mindset. - Proven cross-platform engineering on Windows, macOS, and Linux. - Understanding of common enterprise tech stacks (Python, Java/Spring, Angular, React, .NET, Oracle, Redshift, SQL Server). - Track record of shipping and maintaining critical developer infrastructure. - Experience working in regulated environments, with a focus on security, data protection, and auditability within LLM systems. - Mastery of the software development lifecycle, modern methodologies, CI/CD, and observability tools (Azure DevOps, Jenkins, SonarQube, Splunk, Datadog, Dynatrace). - Demonstrated technical leadership, consensus-building, and mentorship of senior engineers. - Experience in agent evaluation and AI workflow measurement. - Active involvement in the developer-tools, AI agents, or open-source communities. Preferred Skills - Masters in Computer Science. - Published writing, conference talks, or notable open-source contributions in AI/ML or developer tools.
