A Snapshot of Your Day

As a Lead Systems Electrical Engineer, you will act as the technical focal for electrical engineering topics supporting Wind Power Onshore projects across North America. Your day will focus on leading electrical and grid-related engineering activities across pre-sale and post-sale phases, ensuring technical alignment, compliance, and operational excellence.

You will provide expert guidance across wind turbine and plant-level electrical systems, lead technical decision-making, support customer and contract discussions, and coordinate closely with Project Management, Sales, Supply Chain, Service Operations and Global Engineering. In this role, you set technical direction, uphold Siemens Energy's highest standards in health, safety, quality, and compliance, and actively shape best practices and standardization.

How You'll Make an Impact
  • Lead pre-sale electrical engineering activities, including customer technical negotiations, clarification of electrical concepts, and approval of contract exhibits.
  • Own post-sale technical resolution, including complex issue analysis, corrective action alignment, and support for repairs and field-related challenges.
  • Provide system-level leadership across electrical components, including generators, power converters (Direct Drive, Full Converter, DFIG), transformers, cabling, electrical cabinets, MV switchgear, protection systems, grounding, lightning protection systems, and grid interconnection equipment. Define, review, and approve engineering documentation, including internal guidelines, technical reports, work instructions, and lessons learned.
  • Act as Siemens Energy's technical representative in electrical codes, standards, and regulatory forums (e.g., IEEE, CSA, UL, NERC).
  • Drive standardization, technical governance, and best practices across Wind Engineering.
  • Collaborate with regional and global engineering teams to deliver cost-effective, compliant, and scalable solutions aligned with business objectives.
What You Bring
  • Masters degree in Electrical Engineering with specialization in power systems, power electronics/energy systems.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in electrical engineering with focus on power systems / power electronics / grid connected energy systems with demonstrated system-level technical experience. Wind energy engineering experience is highly preferred.
  • Deep expertise in electrical systems and grid-connected equipment, including power converters, generators, transformers, MV equipment, protection relays, grounding, LPS, and grid compliance.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical codes, standards, and regulatory requirements (IEEE, CSA, UL, NERC, IEC).
  • Experience representing in industry standards committees or regulatory working groups.
  • Excellent communication skills in English (written and spoken); additional languages are a plus.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% as required
About the Team

The Electrical Software Engineering team is part of the Operational Engineering organization for Wind Power Onshore in North America. The team provides electrical support for presales activities, including customer questions, and contract exhibits, and meetings including clarification, correction, repairs, and meetings.

Pay Transparency:

This job is based Oakville, Ontario Siemens Energy offers a variety of benefits including health and wellness, paid time off and holiday pay. The base salary range for this position is $101,000 - $120,000.

Specific offers are determined by various factors, such as experience, skills, certifications, and other business needs. Employees typically do not start at the top of the range, though compensation depends on each individual's qualifications.
