Lead Electrical Inspection Technician

Location: Tucson, AZ
Work Type: Onsite
Clearance: U.S. Citizenship required; Secret clearance required or obtainable

Role Summary

We are seeking a Lead Electrical Inspection Technician to support inspection, testing, troubleshooting, and validation of prototype electrical assemblies and test hardware used in aerospace and defense environments.

This role works closely with engineering, quality, manufacturing, and design teams to ensure complex hardware meets drawing requirements, quality standards, reliability expectations, and manufacturability needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect and test prototype electrical assemblies, test hardware, and electronic systems.
  • Support inspection of cables, wire harnesses, chassis, circuit cards, and electro-mechanical assemblies.
  • Read and interpret electrical drawings, mechanical drawings, schematics, 3D models, specifications, and build documentation.
  • Perform hands-on troubleshooting, validation, and failure isolation on new or updated hardware designs.
  • Support prototype builds, engineering development activities, and low-volume production cycles.
  • Participate in design reviews to assess producibility, reliability, compliance, and inspection readiness.
  • Document inspection results, discrepancies, nonconformances, and corrective actions.
  • Communicate findings to engineering, quality, manufacturing, and program teams.
  • Recommend design, process, or documentation improvements to improve quality and manufacturability.
  • Support root cause analysis, corrective action, and issue resolution for hardware defects or build concerns.

Required Qualifications
  • 8+ years of experience inspecting electrical or electronic assemblies in an engineering, manufacturing, production, or quality environment.
  • Experience with cables, wire harnesses, chassis, circuit cards, electronic systems, or electro-mechanical hardware.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, mechanical drawings, schematics, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Strong hands-on inspection, testing, troubleshooting, and validation experience.
  • Experience documenting discrepancies, inspection results, and corrective actions.
  • Ability to work with engineering and manufacturing teams to resolve hardware or documentation issues.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Active Secret clearance.
  • Experience with First Article Inspection, root cause corrective action, and DCMA audit support.
  • Familiarity with GD&T and mechanical inspection methods.
  • Experience using inspection tools such as CMMs, calipers, micrometers, optical comparators, or similar equipment.
  • IPC-A-610, IPC/WHMA-A-620, J-STD-001, or related inspection/certification experience.
  • Background supporting aerospace, defense, missile, avionics, or other high-reliability hardware.
  • Experience in prototype, engineering development, or low-volume production environments.
  • Experience supporting design reviews, producibility reviews, or manufacturability feedback.
  • Strong communication skills with engineering, quality, manufacturing, and cross-functional teams.
