Full Job Description
The Primoris Engineering office is looking for a Lead Electrical Engineer (PE) to support our Houston, Texas office. The Lead Electrical Engineer will perform difficult and complex duties for midstream compressor stations, pumping stations, storage tank farms, pipelines and gas and liquid metering facilities. This position reports to the Engineering Manager and will assist other discipline engineering and design groups as needed to effectively coordinate design and quality practices.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare electrical specifications, drawings, and technical documentation for electrical equipment and electrical installations.
  • Develop specifications for electrical equipment, including pump and compressor motors, Motor Control Center (MCC), Variable Frequency Drives (VFD), medium and low voltage transformers, electrical panels, electrical breakers, electric valve actuators, electrical grounding, etc.
  • Perform electrical load calculations. Utilize SKM and ETAP software to perform short circuit analysis and arc flash studies.
  • Develop and maintain the Electrical Load List and Conduit and Cable Schedule.
  • Develop Request for Quotation (RFQ) packages and provide technical bid evaluations for all electrical equipment during the procurement process.
  • Review and approve vendor-supplied electrical equipment drawings and documentation to ensure compliance with project specifications and standards. Ensure the vendor's drawings/designs are captured in electrical construction drawing packages.
  • Support the development and quality checks of electrical construction drawings, including location plans, wiring diagrams and installation details. Coordinate with the project engineering and design teams to develop quality electrical construction drawing packages (Issue for Review, Issue for Construction, etc.).
  • Attend Factory inspection (FAT) assignments and field walk downs as required.
  • Support project lifecycle from concept through construction.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including mechanical, civil, and instrumentation engineers and designers.

General Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering field
  • 5+ years of experience in electrical engineering within the oil and gas industry, preferably midstream oil and gas
  • Proficiency in electrical design software (SKM and ETAP)
  • Working knowledge of industry codes and standards (NEC, IEEE, NEMA, NFPA, IEC, API, ASTM, etc.)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suit (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams)
  • Familiarity with Bluebeam Studio and it's use for collaborating and sharing information
  • Familiarity with Navisworks software to review 3D models and AVEVA
  • Good communication skills (reading/writing/speaking)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
