Lead Network Engineer Status: Full Time Location: Moriarty, NM Position Summary: Sceye is seeking a Lead Network Engineer to design, build, and secure the networking infrastructure that connects our stratospheric platforms, ground stations, and enterprise systems. This role owns network architecture across corporate IT, ground control networks, and mission-critical communications links, ensuring reliable, secure, and high-performance connectivity for a growing aerospace operation. Job Purpose: • Design, implement, and maintain enterprise and mission-critical network infrastructure, including LAN/WAN, wireless, and ground station connectivity. • Lead network architecture decisions for ground control systems supporting stratospheric flight operations. • Own network security architecture, including firewalls, VPNs, segmentation, and intrusion detection/prevention systems. • Manage relationships with ISPs, satellite connectivity providers, and telecom vendors. • Develop and maintain network documentation, diagrams, and disaster recovery/business continuity plans. • Lead troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for complex network incidents, including those affecting mission operations. • Partner with IT, Avionics, and Ground Systems teams to ensure network reliability for critical communications links. • Evaluate and implement new networking technologies to support fleet growth and increased data throughput. • Mentor junior network and IT staff on best practices and troubleshooting methodology. • Support after-hours or on-call response for network incidents affecting flight or ground operations. What We're Looking For: • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent experience. • 7+ years of network engineering experience, including 2+ years in a lead or senior capacity. • Deep expertise in routing and switching (Cisco, Juniper, or similar), including BGP, OSPF, and VLAN architecture. • Strong understanding of network security principles, firewalls, and VPN technologies. • Experience designing and supporting mission-critical or high-availability network environments. • Hands-on experience with network monitoring and management tools. • Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to lead incident response. Preferred: • CCNP, CCIE, or similar advanced networking certification. • Experience with satellite, RF, or long-haul wireless communications links. • Familiarity with SCADA, industrial control networks, or aerospace ground systems. • Experience with SD-WAN and zero-trust network architectures. • Background supporting network infrastructure in aerospace, defense, or telecommunications. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills for complex, multi-site network environments. • Ability to lead and mentor other engineers while remaining hands-on. • Excellent communication skills to translate technical network issues for non-technical stakeholders. • Comfortable balancing enterprise IT priorities with mission-critical operational needs. • Detail-oriented with strong documentation habits. Physical Requirements: • Frequently lift and carry networking equipment up to 40 pounds. • Walk throughout office, production, and hangar facilities to install and maintain equipment. • Ability to work in server rooms, crawl spaces, and equipment racks as needed. • Support occasional after-hours or weekend activities during maintenance windows or company events.
