CVS Health is seeking aDirector of Solution Architectureto lead the architecture strategy for memberfacing digital experiences and the platforms that power them. This role is accountable for defining and evolving scalable, secure, and intelligent architectures that improve how members discover, access, and engage with their health benefits and care.
You will lead a team of Architects, partner closely with Product, Engineering, Experience Design, Data, and Security, and serve as a strategic advisor to senior leadership. This role balancesexperience excellence, platform modernization, and AIdriven innovation, ensuring that digital solutions are intuitive for members, efficient for teams, and compliant with healthcare regulations.
Key Responsibilities
MemberCentric Architecture Strategy
- Own thearchitecture vision and roadmapfor Aetnafcs memberfacing digital platforms (web, mobile, APIs).
- Ensure architectures are explicitly designed to improvemember experience outcomessuch as simplicity, accessibility, personalization, reliability, and trust.
- Translate business and experience goals intoclear targetstate and transitional architectures.
Digital Platform & Experience Leadership
- Provide architectural oversight forendtoend member journeys, spanning UI, API, integration, data, and cloud layers.
- Drive consistent adoption ofmodern experience architectures(microfrontends, APIfirst, domaindriven design, eventdriven patterns).
- Partner with UX and Product to ensure architecture enablesrapid experimentation and iterationwithout compromising quality or compliance.
AI & Intelligent Solutions
- Define architectural patterns forAIenabled digital experiences, including personalization, intelligent search, conversational interfaces, decision support, and operational automation.
- Partner with Data, AI, and Engineering teams to ensureresponsible, secure, and scalable use of AI, aligned with regulatory and ethical standards.
- Evaluate and guidebuild vs. buydecisions for AI platforms, tools, and vendors.
Governance, Quality & Compliance
- Establisharchitecture standards, guardrails, and reference architecturesthat enable teams to move fast with confidence.
- Ensurenonfunctional requirements(performance, availability, security, resilience, accessibility, observability) are embedded into all solutions.
- Collaborate with Security and Compliance to ensure adherence toADA, PCI, PII, PHI, and healthcare regulatory requirements.
People Leadership & Organizational Impact
- Lead, mentor, and develop a highperforming team of Architects; set clear expectations and growth paths.
- Foster a culture ofexperiencefirst thinking, technical excellence, and pragmatic decisionmaking.
- Actively participate in hiring and shaping the future architecture talent strategy.
Executive Partnership & Influence
- Serve as atrusted architecture advisorto senior Product, Digital, and Technology leaders.
- Communicate complex architectural concepts inclear, outcomefocused narrativestailored for executive audiences.
- Influence across organizational boundaries to align teams around shared platforms and standards.
Required Qualifications:
- 10+ yearsof experience in enterprise application development and architecture, with5+ years in architecture leadership roles.
- Proven experience leadingmemberfacing digital platformsat scale.
- Deep expertise incloudnative architectures(AWS, GCP, Azure), APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.
- Strong understanding ofmodern digital experience architectures(web, mobile, personalization, accessibility).
- Experience defining and governingAIenabled architecturesin regulated environments.
- Exceptional communication, influence, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience operating inAgile / SAFeor similar scaled delivery environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience inhealthcare, insurance, or other regulated consumer digital industries.
- Handson experience withAI/ML platforms, event streaming, and datadriven architectures.
- Strong grasp ofobservability, reliability engineering, and resilience patterns.
- Experience modernizing legacy platforms while maintaining uninterrupted member experience.

Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is:
$144,200.00 - $288,400.00
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the companys equity award program.
