Position Summary

Aetna Mental Wellbeing is seeking an experienced Lead Director, Behavioral Health Clinical Sales Enablement to serve as the critical link between clinical operations, behavioral health strategy, and customer-facing teams. This highly visible role combines behavioral health expertise, consultative business acumen, and strategic storytelling to help employers, consultants, and internal stakeholders understand the value and impact of Aetna's behavioral health solutions.

As a trusted clinical advisor, this leader will translate complex clinical programs, care models, utilization trends, network capabilities, and quality outcomes into actionable recommendations that support client growth, retention, and workforce well-being objectives. The role partners closely with Sales, Account Management, Product, Clinical Operations, Medical Affairs, and Network teams to help bring Aetna's behavioral health strategy to life in the market.

What You'll Do

Serve as the Behavioral Health Clinical Subject Matter Expert
  • Act as the primary clinical resource for behavioral health products, programs, care models, and clinical outcomes.
  • Provide expert guidance to internal and external stakeholders on behavioral health trends, treatment approaches, quality initiatives, and emerging industry developments.
  • Represent clinical capabilities and behavioral health strategy in customer discussions, industry forums, and internal planning activities.


Support Strategic Client and Consultant Engagements
  • Partner with Sales and Account Management teams on complex client opportunities, finalist presentations, renewals, and consultant discussions.
  • Help employers and consultants understand behavioral health trends within their populations and identify opportunities to improve outcomes.
  • Communicate clinical value in a way that is meaningful to both healthcare and non-healthcare audiences.


Translate Data into Actionable Insights
  • Analyze behavioral health utilization patterns, access-to-care metrics, outcomes, quality indicators, and population health trends.
  • Convert complex clinical and operational data into clear recommendations for clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Develop compelling, data-driven narratives that demonstrate value, identify opportunities, and support strategic decision-making.


Partner with Clinical Operations and Network Teams
  • Collaborate with behavioral health clinical operations, care management, provider network, and quality teams to understand performance and improvement opportunities.
  • Act as a bridge between frontline clinical teams and customer-facing organizations.
  • Support communication of network strategy, provider access initiatives, quality programs, and care delivery innovations.


Support Program Design and Clinical Quality Initiatives
  • Contribute to the design, enhancement, and implementation of behavioral health programs and solutions.
  • Partner with Product, Strategy, and Clinical leaders to align offerings with customer needs and market trends.
  • Help ensure clinical integrity, quality oversight, and evidence-based program development.

Assist with Clinical Escalations and Investigations
  • Support the resolution of complex client questions, escalations, and clinical inquiries.
  • Coordinate with operational and clinical teams to investigate concerns and communicate findings effectively.
  • Help maintain confidence and transparency during sensitive situations requiring clinical expertise.


Advance an Integrated Mental Well-Being Strategy
  • Develop and deliver compelling narratives that connect behavioral health, Employee Assistance Programs (EAP), Resources For Living® (RFL), and broader workforce well-being solutions.
  • Help clients understand the value of an integrated approach to mental health, care navigation, work-life support, and employee well-being.
  • Partner with Marketing and Product teams to create market-facing content, presentations, thought leadership, and educational materials.


Required Qualifications
  • 8+ years of experience in behavioral health, clinical consulting, healthcare strategy, care management, behavioral health operations, or related healthcare leadership roles.
  • Deep understanding of behavioral health treatment models, care delivery systems, and clinical quality measures.
  • Experience interpreting healthcare data and presenting findings to executive audiences.
  • Strong presentation, communication, and consultative relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to translate complex clinical concepts into business-oriented recommendations.
  • Experience working across multidisciplinary teams in a highly matrixed environment.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Licensed behavioral health clinician (e.g., Psychologist, LCSW, LPC, LMFT, RN, or equivalent) or advanced clinical training. This is strongly preferred.
  • Experience supporting employer-sponsored behavioral health or workforce well-being programs.
  • Health plan, managed care, provider organization, consulting, or population health experience.
  • Familiarity with behavioral health outcomes reporting, quality measurement, network management, and utilization management.
  • Experience supporting sales, account management, product development, or client consulting functions.
  • Master's degree, clinical doctorate, or other advanced healthcare degree preferred.

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$100,000.00 - $231,540.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company's equity award program.
