Full Job Description
Lead Director, Asset Protection Operations is responsible for developing, implementing, and evolving enterprise shrink reduction strategies that drive profitability, improve operational effectiveness, and strengthen Asset Protection execution across the organization.

This role serves as the business owner for the enterprise Asset Protection Store Visit and Action Planning Platform, including the associated proactive and reactive operational review processes designed to identify risk, mitigate shrink, and improve execution across retail operations.

The Lead Director is accountable for the strategic direction, governance, field adoption, and performance of Asset Protection operational effectiveness programs and partners closely with Asset Protection Leadership, Store Operations, Pharmacy Operations, Human Resources, Field Leadership, Applications, and Technology teams to deliver sustainable business results.

In addition, this role oversees the ongoing performance monitoring and continuous improvement of Asset Protection operational effectiveness programs, enterprise governance processes, and supporting technology platforms. The position identifies emerging shrink risks and profit opportunities, develops strategic solutions, and drives enterprise-wide adoption of best practices that improve operational performance, profitability, and risk mitigation.

In addition, the Lead Director provides strategic leadership for the Multi-Channel Asset Protection team, overseeing audit, investigative, and compliance functions that protect company assets, support operational integrity, and mitigate enterprise risk across all non-retail business lines. This includes responsibility for drug diversion investigations, operational audits, risk assessments, and cross-functional partnership with business leaders to identify emerging risks, drive corrective actions, and support enterprise-wide compliance and profitability objectives.

Essential Functions

Asset Protection Strategy & Profit Improvement
  • Develop and lead a portfolio of Asset Protection strategies and initiatives designed to reduce shrink, mitigate operational risks, and improve profitability.
  • Identify emerging shrink trends, operational challenges, and business opportunities through data analysis and field feedback.
  • Develop short and long-term strategic plans that deliver measurable improvements in both front store and pharmacy shrink performance and operational execution.
  • Partner with senior leaders across Asset Protection, Store Operations, Pharmacy Operations, Human Resources, and Technology to align priorities and drive execution.


Asset Protection Operational Effectiveness Programs
  • Own the strategic direction, governance, and ongoing evolution of the enterprise Asset Protection Store Visit and Action Planning Platform.
  • Establish program standards, accountability measures, and execution expectations that support enterprise shrink reduction efforts.
  • Develop and implement enhancements that increase program effectiveness, scalability, and ease of execution.
  • Ensure alignment of Asset Protection operational effectiveness initiatives with broader organizational goals and operational priorities.


Applications, Technology & Tool Ownership
  • Serve as business owner for Asset Protection operational applications, technology platforms, reporting tools, and field support systems.
  • Oversee ongoing maintenance, performance monitoring, enhancement prioritization, and governance of the Asset Protection Audit application and associated action planning processes.
  • Partner with Technology and Applications teams to identify and implement system enhancements that improve field execution and operational effectiveness.
  • Lead integration of Asset Protection programs and workflows into enterprise field visit management and operational execution tools.


Multi-Channel Asset Protection Leadership
  • Lead the Multi-Channel Asset Protection team responsible for audit execution, drug diversion investigations, and operational risk assessments across multiple business channels.
  • Partner with operational leadership to identify and address emerging risks impacting profitability, compliance, and operational integrity.
  • Provide strategic oversight and direction for investigations involving suspected drug diversion and other high-risk activities.
  • Ensure consistent execution of audit programs, investigative practices, and reporting standards that support enterprise risk mitigation efforts.
  • Develop capabilities, processes, and reporting that enhance organizational visibility into operational and compliance risks.
  • Collaborate with Asset Protection, Pharmacy Operations, Human Resources, Legal, and Compliance partners to support appropriate investigative and corrective action processes.


Analytics & Performance Monitoring
  • Monitor shrink performance, operational execution metrics, and key performance indicators to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop executive reporting, dashboards, and performance insights that support strategic decision-making.
  • Conduct ad hoc analyses and business reviews to evaluate new and evolving shrink reduction opportunities.


Leadership & Cross-Functional Partnership
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with field leadership, operational business partners, and support functions.
  • Lead cross-functional workgroups, steering committees, and strategic initiatives focused on shrink reduction, operational effectiveness, and risk mitigation.
  • Provide thought leadership and strategic recommendations that influence enterprise decision-making.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, innovation, and operational excellence.
  • Develop and mentor team members while promoting a high-performance, customer-focused culture.


Required Qualifications
  • Willingness and ability to travel 25% for quarterly meetings
  • 8+ years of experience in Asset Protection, Investigations, AP Analytics, or AP Technology Management, with a blend of investigative and data-driven expertise.


Preferred Qualifications

Certificate(s) or License(s): LPC, CFE, or other relevant AP and investigative certifications preferred.

Bachelor's Degree in Business, Criminal Justice, Data Analytics, Cybersecurity, or a related field.

Education

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred.

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$100,000.00 - $231,540.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company's equity award program.
