Position OverviewLead and provide solutions supporting front-end requirements and features. Capable of coordinating and delivering user interface and experience across USPTO for Patent Center modules. Ability to lead design meetings, understand complex architectures and integrations. Support Jr. developers. Ensure code quality through code reviews. Troubleshoot Production issues and provide resolution in a timely manner. Provide off hours support on rotating basis.
Work with USPTO Product Managers and UX designers to translate requirements and business objectives into complete user interfaces. Led UI/UX design and development, user sessions, wireframes, 508 compliance, browser compatibility, coding.
Core Responsibilities- Operational Oversight: Leading and supporting other developers.
- Collaboration: Work with clients, key stakeholders, as well as cross functional teams.
- Technical Performance: Strong Front end expertise to build project platforms using JavaScript to develop rich User Interfaces. Designs wireframes based on Bootstrap 4 designed for Angular. Use RxJS to deal with async implementation and call backs. Use Angular forms to build reactive forms. Ensures the application is covered with unit tests, and is 508 compliant.
Minimum Requirements- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field experience
- Experience: 10+ years
- Modern JavaScript & TypeScript: Fluency in Angular 18+, asynchronous patterns (Promises, async/await), closures, event loops, and this binding. Strong TypeScript capability, including generics and utility types.
- HTML5 & DOM API: Deep understanding of semantic HTML and the browser's rendering pipeline.
- CSS & Layouts: Mastery of responsive design using Flexbox and CSS Grid, along with modern features like CSS Container Queries.
- Framework Expertise: Proficiency with Angular. Candidates must understand framework-specific rendering lifecycles (e.g., avoiding unnecessary re-renders). Proficiency in understanding State Management
- Accessibility Standards: Ability to use semantic HTML, WAI-ARIA attributes, and manage focus for keyboard navigation. Custom control accessibility is also critical
- Web Security: Preventing Cross-Site Scripting (XSS), Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF), and implementing secure authentication patterns (e.g., HTTP-only cookies vs. Local Storage).
- Troubleshooting expertise: Strong Angular troubleshooting requires deep debugging of change detection, RxJS, routing, forms, performance, builds, and API issues, plus clear triage, root-cause analysis, and effective communication of fixes.
- Testing Strategies: Unit, integration, and End-to-End (E2E) testing using tools like Jest, Vitest. Candidates should understand what and how to test behaviors instead of implementation details.
- System Design Reasoning: Ability to decompose complex UI problems, define API interfaces, and plan for data models before writing code
- Compliance: Must be eligible to obtain and maintain Public Trust
Preferred Expertise- Backend knowledge of Java, Spring Boot and Node.js integration
- Understanding of AWS architecture and AI technologies
