Lead Data Scientist

Department: Data - Analytics

Compensation: $180,000 - $220,000 / year

Description

We are currently seeking a Lead Data Scientist, Responsible for advanced and predictive data analytics from complex and high value projects using big data and data science technology for healthcare innovation and outcomes. Oversee the implementation of data science solutions and responsible for conducting complex statistical and algorithmic data analyses and development of technologies to improve the health of members.

What You'll Do
  • Leads Data Science and AI initiatives for a few business areas like clinical claims.
  • Provides thoughtful and impactful leadership at the managerial as well as technical level with ability to inspire and articulate a compelling vision.
  • Collaborates with the senior leadership team and will be a go-to advisory person in the domain
  • Design and develop analysis tools that extract, prepare, and analyze data and store analytical results for downstream analysis and reporting for business needs.
  • Manages and executes the successful delivery of the algorithms, statistical and machine learning models.
  • Develop tools to convert unstructured data to partially or fully structured representations as well as process large sets of data to derive statistical information.
  • Apply expertise in quantitative analysis, data mining, and the presentation of data to understand how users interact with business products.
  • Develop mathematical and statistical models for distinguishing relevant from irrelevant content or events.
  • Participate in developing presentations and communicate results of research analysis and findings to key stakeholders.
  • Participate in the design of automated, operational analytics processes to achieve scale and durability of analysis processes.
  • Measure and validate the outcomes of health management programs using Python, SAS, R and other tools, by utilizing provider data, claims data, membership data, etc.
  • Coordinate analysis and development initiatives and capabilities with health plans.
  • Manage multiple projects as assigned.
  • Assist with training junior members of the data team.
  • Lead development efforts with technical team liaisons, including gathering business requirements, documentation, testing, delivery and user adoption, and communicating expectations to the Health Plan.
  • Keep abreast of cutting-edge methodologies/advancements in the field and, when appropriate, incorporate them into projects/workflows.


Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Informatics, Econometrics, Engineering, or Experimental Science or related degree and 6+ years of experience; or bachelor's degree in a quantitative discipline and 6+ years of experience in data science capabilities including data mining, predictive modeling, machine learning, statistical modeling, large scale data acquisition/transformation, and cleaning structured and unstructured data. PhD. degree in quantitative discipline is preferred.
  • Experience working with large databases, data verification and data management.
  • Solid programming skills in one of the following: Python, Java, Scala or C++
  • Demonstrated proficiency in SQL and relational databases.
  • Solid healthcare business domain knowledge
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to perform mathematical calculations and calculate simple statistics correctly
  • Reasoning Skills: Ability to prioritize multiple tasks; advanced problem-solving; ability to use advanced reasoning to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and design, implement and manage appropriate resolution.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Effective problem solving, organizational and time management skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Report Analysis Skills: Comprehend and analyze statistical reports.


Environmental Job Requirements and Working Conditions
  • This position is remotely based in the U.S.
  • The total compensation target pay range for this role is: $180,000 - $220,000. The salary range represents our national target range for this role.
