Overview

Who we're looking for

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Data Platform Engineer, Snowflake to design, maintain, secure, and optimize our Snowflake data platform and analytical ecosystem that supports it. This role will be responsible for platform administration, user onboarding, governance, observability, audit readiness, and the establishment of Snowflake best practices across warehouses, databases, schemas, and access controls. The ideal candidate will also help build a Center of Excellence and evaluate new Snowflake capabilities such as Cortex and emerging agentic AI use cases.

What you'll be doing

In this role, your day may start with supporting platform health and access needs, then shift into improving performance, strengthening governance, or partnering with teams to enable new data capabilities. Success means being the person others trust to keep Snowflake stable, secure, and ready for growth while helping the organization adopt better practices and innovative features.
  • Design, implement, and maintain a secure, scalable, and reliable Snowflake platform across multiple environments
  • Manage Snowflake warehouses, databases, schemas, roles, and access controls following enterprise best practices
  • Develop and enforce standards for performance optimization, cost management, workload management, and platform usage
  • Administer platform security including role-based access control, least-privilege access, masking policies, row access policies, and audit controls
  • Lead user onboarding activities including provisioning, access setup, role assignments, documentation, and enablement support
  • Build and document best practices for Snowflake platform design, operations, governance, security, and support
  • Monitor platform performance, cost, access activity, and usage trends through observability and audit capabilities
  • Establish logging, auditing, and monitoring standards to improve operational visibility and compliance readiness
  • Partner with data engineering, analytics, security, and infrastructure teams to support adoption and platform maturity
  • Contribute as a core team member in setting up a Snowflake Center of Excellence to drive standards, reusable patterns, governance, and training
  • Evaluate and recommend adoption of new Snowflake features including Cortex and other agentic or AI-enabled capabilities
  • Troubleshoot platform issues related to performance, configuration, security, access, and operational stability


What you bring
  • 8 or more years of experience designing, administering, and supporting Snowflake in an enterprise environment
  • Strong understanding of Snowflake architecture including virtual warehouses, databases, schemas, storage, cloning, time travel, and secure data sharing
  • Hands-on experience with Snowflake security models including masking policies, row-level security, and governance controls
  • Experience with observability, audit logging, usage monitoring, and cost optimization for cloud data platforms
  • Ability to document standards, operational procedures, governance controls, and best practices clearly and effectively
  • Experience onboarding users and supporting cross-functional teams in a shared data platform environment
  • Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services and solutions
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills


Added bonus if you have
  • Experience establishing or contributing to a Data Platform or Snowflake Center of Excellence
  • Experience with automation for administrative tasks, access provisioning, monitoring, lineage capture, metadata management, or policy enforcement
  • Understanding of enterprise governance frameworks, compliance expectations, and secure platform operations
  • Experience partnering with data governance, analytics engineering, or business intelligence teams to improve trusted data usage at scale
  • Familiarity with Snowflake Cortex and modern AI or agentic use cases within enterprise data environments
  • Experience with automation and scripting for platform administration and operational efficiency
  • Understanding of compliance-focused access governance and enterprise security practices
