What is the Opportunity?

As CAE transform itself to become data and analytics driven, it become very essential to govern and manage data, so it works optimally for the group. This role will lead the execution and evolution of a comprehensive audit data management and governance framework ensuring data quality, security, compliance, and accessibility of data across CAE. You will be responsible for all aspects of the following: Strategic Responsibilities of Data Governance & Controls, Audit Data Domain management and enablement, Data investment support and Data Governance Center of Excellence at CAE; Operationally providing data governance risk oversight and remediation; serve as data steward delegate and support management in performance reporting; and continuously looking for ways to automate performance reporting and Collaboration within CAE and outside with Data Community at RBC for sharing best practices and alignment to Enterprise Data management and Data Protections policies. The outcome from this work will be key contributor the ability for our leadership team to make informed data driven assurance decisions and to monitor the performance of the CAE data management portfolio; allowing them to pivot or address issues early on.

What will you do?
  • Data Governance and Controls - Develop strategies and processes for data implementation, data acquisition, and archive recovery.
    Lead Data Governance at CAE through assessment and mitigation of CAE data-related risks and data controls in order to drive alignment, consistency and implementation of enterprise data policies while balancing with CAE business requirements.
  • Audit Data Domain Management and Enablement - Lead and provide critical support to the implementation and maturity of RBC's Enterprise Data Policy through the development of data domains for Key Audit Processes. Lead, define, and adjust Operating Model for Data quality and Issue Management at CAE; including road mapping while providing Thought Leadership to benchmark audit data domain management and governance metrics and mature targets, reporting and insights overtime. Contributing to the selection, design, development and integration of physical data storage for the organization.
  • Data Governance Center of Excellence: - Provide center of excellence and advocate for data management best practices for all data and analytics products at CAE, provide subject matter expert with respect to CDEs definition, prioritization, and Standard of Care implementation, monitoring and issue management across CAE data products. Represent CAE across enterprise data councils, with respect to Audit Data domain to ensure CAE data interests and concerns are properly represented.
  • Data Strategy Investment Support - Ensuring appropriate maintenance, security, integrity and access to all organizational data.
    Directing the development of strategies and processes for data implementation, data acquisition, and archive recovery.
    Lead the Inventory and streamline segment-specific prioritized data needs and data-related initiatives; while Provide support on segment-specific data investments business case, cross-domain value, efforts, and issues.
  • Operations Data Risk oversight and remediation- Perform Data steward delegate duties including managing data sharing, role-based data access, evolution and maintenance of the domain dictionary, definition, quality control, metadata, data lineage, data retention. Collaborate internally with IA Audit Platforms, Methodology and Learning groups to ensure data governance requirements are understood and change incorporated into the audit methodology and procedures as appropriate. Actively identify and manage CAE related data risk and their timely remediation and Lead automation to enable efficiency in data governance management and reporting processes.
  • Communication/Collaboration/Behavioral- Sound ability to make actionable recommendation, guides senior management through complex decisions and Collaborate with Enterprise (Info Sec and Privacy, Compliance, CDO) for data policy related assessments of IA data and analytic ecosystem; plan and manage the required finding and their remediation while ensuring all activities are at a level that would pass a review by auditors or regulatory bodies.

  • Analytical and Growth Mindset with balanced approach to decision making. Ability to balance creativity with pragmatism, concepts with practical applications, agility with control
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in Data Management, Client Management, Data Analysis
  • Use data and analytics tools like SQL, Tableau/Streamlit to build and test concepts and analyze data for metric reporting
  • Strong knowledge of RBC enterprise data and security policies and RBC IT Governance / Risk Management / Compliance platforms
  • People Management experience in managing effective, fair and consensus based relationship within IA and across multiple functions and platforms at RBC including Cyber security, GTI, Data Stewards, T&O, DBAs, GRM, Operational Risk, and multiple Line of Businesses (LOB)
