Full Job Description
We are seeking a Lead Data Analyst to help us better understand, engage and grow The Inquirer's digital audience and subscriber base. This role will use behavioral, engagement, and subscription data to uncover what drives conversion, retention, and long-term audience value; develop actionable audience segments for personalization and targeting; and translate complex analysis into clear recommendations for Product, Marketing, Newsroom, and Advertising teams. The ideal candidate combines strong analytical and statistical skills with curiosity about customer behavior and the ability to turn data into business action.

What You'll Do
  • Develop and execute analysis of digital audience behavior, engagement, conversion, and retention using large-scale behavioral and subscription data to identify opportunities for audience and subscriber growth.
  • Develop actionable audience segments using behavioral, engagement, and subscription data to support personalization, targeting, and experimentation across product and marketing channels.
  • Apply appropriate analytical techniques, including clustering, propensity modeling, and behavioral segmentation to support segmentation.
  • Apply statistical methods such as regression, cohort and retention analysis, survival analysis, and experimentation to understand drivers of conversion, engagement, churn, and lifetime value.
  • Translate complex and ambiguous business questions into analytical approaches, uncover meaningful patterns in audience behavior, and turn findings into clear recommendations for Product, Marketing, Newsroom, Advertising, and other stakeholders.
  • Partner with Product Managers and stakeholders to define success metrics, evaluate digital product performance, design and analyze experiments, and identify opportunities to improve the user experience and business outcomes.
  • Work with data engineering to translate analytical needs into reusable datasets and models in BigQuery and dbt and to operationalize high-value audience segments for downstream activation.
  • Expand self-service analytics by translating recurring stakeholder questions into trusted metrics, curated datasets, semantic definitions, and AI-ready data models.
  • Develop and improve AI-enabled analytics workflows, including natural-language exploration of governed data, and help stakeholders use these tools effectively.
  • Present analyses, insights, and new analytical capabilities to senior leaders and non-technical audiences, serving as a trusted analytical partner across The Inquirer.
  • Contribute to an inclusive, collaborative, and positive work environment.

Who We're Looking For
  • 5+ years of experience in customer analytics, audience analytics, growth analytics, product analytics, marketing analytics, decision science, or a similar quantitative analytical role.
  • Advanced SQL skills and experience analyzing large-scale behavioral, transactional, subscription, or customer-level datasets.
  • Experience developing behavioral or customer segments and using data to identify meaningful differences in engagement, conversion, retention, churn, or lifetime value.
  • Experience applying statistical methods to real-world business problems, using Python or R in addition to SQL. Relevant experience might include regression, clustering, propensity modeling, survival or retention analysis, or similar techniques.
  • Strong analytical judgment, including the ability to move from an ambiguous business question to an appropriate analytical approach rather than simply applying a predefined methodology.
  • Experience with digital behavioral data and event-based analytics platforms such as Google Analytics, Mixpanel, Amplitude, or Adobe Analytics.
  • Experience with experimentation and A/B testing, including interpreting results and helping stakeholders translate findings into decisions.
  • Excellent communication and data storytelling skills, with the ability to explain complex analysis to non-technical stakeholders and turn findings into actionable recommendations.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with teams such as Product, Marketing, Newsroom, Advertising, and Data Engineering and serve as a trusted analytical partner.
