What this job involves:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Building Automation Systems tech to join our team. This critical role involves supporting the design, installation, programming, troubleshooting, and maintenance of building automation systems utilizing JCI, ALC and BACnet protocols within a Lab Environment. The ideal candidate should have extensive knowledge of control systems, excellent technical skills, and a strong understanding of HVAC, electrical, and mechanical systems.

What your day-to-day will look like:
  • Oversee the controls systems architecture for critical infrastructure across multiple campuses to ensure design consistency.
  • Manage onsite Controls Engineer and associated vendors
  • Respond to critical building and lab supported infrastructure emergencies both during and after business hours complying with SLAs
  • Collaborate with Engineering Team to assist in design and implement specific information systems such as building automation
  • Collaborate with JLL IOT and BOS Teams on projects and remediations.
  • Conduct thorough root cause analysis on system failures, errors, and bugs
  • Work cross functionally within several integrated technical teams to support daily operations, opex and capex projects across multiple campuses and buildings
  • Ensure compliance with industry codes, standards, and regulations during system installations. Programming and Configuration: Develop customized programs and scripts for building automation systems
  • Configure and integrate various devices, sensors, and equipment within the system.
  • Perform system diagnostics to identify and troubleshoot programming issues.
  • Conduct periodic inspections, testing, and calibration of building automation systems
  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues in a timely and efficient manner to minimize system downtime.
  • Collaborate with the operations team to ensure optimal performance of systems and help address any performance degradation or inefficiencies.
  • Develop JLL colleague operating engineers and maintenance mechanics in controls troubleshooting.
  • Monitor, record and dispatch alarms to critical areas and equipment
  • Help maintain detailed documentation of all projects, including system modifications, as-built drawings, and programming changes performed in-house and by vendor.
  • Generate reports on system performance, maintenance activities, and recommendations for improvements.
  • Provide guidance to the client on creating highly reliable systems with redundancy and alarm functionality for all critical systems.
  • Provide recommendations of controls devices, such as sensors and controllers, based on experience and industry knowledge.
  • Continuous improvement and advancing the reliability of our systems plays a big part of this role. The approach to this should be proactive and consistently striving for zero downtime.


Management
  • Supervises and directs controls personnel in installation, repair, and maintenance of all critical control systems and equipment. Responsible for supervision of the controls engineer on their shift.


Training
  • Provides training and supervision aimed at expanding the capabilities of the controls staff. Specific duties include, but not limited to: Demonstrating the proper use and care of tools and instruments, giving hands-on instruction in basic maintenance, safety, and troubleshooting procedures pertaining to controls, recommending relevant outside engineering courses for enrollment and instilling an overall level of professionalism in manner and appearance.


Required Qualifications:
  • 5 - 7 years of experience in relevant field
  • Able to communicate clearly in writing (e.g. email, memos, explanations, drawings) and explain work to his/her supervisor and others in the group. Can work effectively with peers.
  • Thorough understanding of HVAC, electrical, and mechanical systems in commercial buildings.
  • Experience interpreting, modifying, and developing mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • Proficient in programming and troubleshooting complex building automation systems.
  • Proficient in administering systems within a Windows Server environment
  • Strong knowledge of industry codes, standards, and regulations related to building automation.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently on assigned tasks and as part of a team.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with clients, engineers, and other stakeholders.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to client sites as needed.


Salary: $101,500 to $133,490

Schedule: Day Shift

This position does not provide visa sponsorship. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Estimated compensation for this position:

100,000.00 - 133,490.00 USD per year

This range is an estimate and actual compensation may differ. Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
