Full Job Description
The Lead Cost Schedule Engineer will work within Network Connex's DCS (Data Center Services) group and will be responsible for project budget development and management, cost schedule planning, analysis and reporting across an assigned region. This position will not only work as the technical subject matter expert overseeing all cost schedule controls activities related to projects assigned to the Lead Cost Schedule Engineer but also lead a team of Cost Schedule Engineers assigned to other in region projects. Leadership, communication, and organization skills are important in this highly collaborative, analytical, and strategic role. This person will be a critical partner for the onsite project management teams and will work closely with other DCS operational functions and various internal departments including Contracts, Finance and Accounting, Procurement and Engineering.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Technical lead in Cost Schedule Controls on regionally assigned projects, including budget management, forecasting, pay application / change order review and quality control, accruals, and risk facilitation.
• Develop, implement and drive project controls strategies and plans for assigned projects.
• Analyze, report and communicate the Cost Schedule Performance and Health to project and DCS leadership.
• Perform special project audits and analysis as/when required including cost vs. budget, billing vs. cost, and tracking current and projected profitability at WBS and activity level throughout the project lifecycle.
• Conduct accrual analysis and coordinate with payment processing teams to track the status of vendor and supplier payments.
• Identify project and commercial risk / opportunities and their respective mitigation / exploitation strategies in collaboration with the delivery team, DCS leadership and other cross functional partners and stakeholders.
• Analyzes vendor and supplier invoices for accuracy and trends; monitors open POs and commitments, calculates expected cost impact and initiates required actions for any needed resolutions.
• Support the Preconstruction team GC / Owner contracts and commercial terms, schedules, gathering of historical data, value engineering studies, etc.
• Prepare and issue schedule analysis narratives including recommendations for corrective actions that are used by DCS leadership and project teams to manage the work.
• Lead, mentor and develop a Team of Cost Schedule Engineers assigned to projects within the Lead Cost Schedule Engineer's area of responsibility.
• Ensure all documents and data are filed, stored and maintained in the DCS document management system.
• After the successful award of the project, schedule and facilitate a detailed hand-off meeting with the Project Management Team to fully explain scope of work, potential areas of attention and other aspects for the successful transition of the project.
Skills, Abilities and Competencies:
• Expert in the understanding and practical use of the Earned Value Management system.
• Advanced knowledge in the use of Primavera P6.
• Ability to mentor and assist with the development of other lesser experienced teammates.
• Identify and meet customers' needs, expectations, and requirements.
• Highly proficient in the use of Microsoft Office business applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and industry specific platforms (Procore, AutoDesk, Oracle Unifier, etc.).
• Demonstrated ability in identifying and solving problems through logical data collection and analysis.
• Ability to work under time constraints and adapting to changing priorities with a positive attitude is essential.
• Excellent communication skills are required for the position.
• Demonstrated experience leading a team of project controls professionals.
• Able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and competing priorities, work under time pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude.
• Possess an entrepreneurial spirit with a high level of motivation. Can work as part of a Team and independently with minimal oversight.
• Can effectively and professionally interact with all levels of employees, both management and staff alike, vendors, clients, and others.
Experience and Education:
• Bachelor's Degree Construction Management, Engineering or other related discipline.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in complex, large and mega scale Construction programs requiring highly detailed reporting.
• Experience in developing detailed and accurate cost budgets and estimates for Data Center Structured Cabling Systems is HIGHLY preferred.
• Experience in project and service delivery utilizing various contracting methods such as Lump Sum / Fixed Price, Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP), Unit Price / Rate, Design Build, etc.
• A combination of related and relevant education, training and technical experience will be considered.
Supervisory Responsibility:
This position will not have direct reports.
Work Location and Travel:
Remote / Hybrid with 50%-75% travel.
