Position overview:
We are seeking an experienced Compliance and Controls Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in compliance including NERC standards. Key responsibilities include developing compliance policies, tracking compliance performance, vendor management including outsourced compliance activities, performing access management functions, programming firewalls, monitoring securitycontrols and facilitating compliance audits.
As the Compliance and Controls Manager, you will:

  • Policy Development: Draft and revise compliance policies, ensuring alignment with company goals and regulatory requirements.
  • Compliance Management: Ensure compliance with regulations including NIST and NERC. Conduct assessments to identify and remediate compliance gaps.
  • Compliance and Controls Vendor Management: Evaluate and monitor vendor relationships, ensuring timely service delivery and high performance standards.
  • Awareness Campaigns Planning and Execution: Develop and deliver compliance awareness and training.
  • Facilitate Compliance Audits: Facilitate regulatory audits, mitigation plans, and improve compliance posture.
  • Controls: Implement and sustain controls including electronic and physical access management.
  • Tools: Monitor controls tool performance and maintain operational status.
  • Change Management: Champion change management and maintain a change management system to facilitate controls and compliance.
  • Reports: Conduct analysis into controls performance across field assets and perform monthly performance reporting.

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Bachelor's degree related to pre-law, compliance or utility operations.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in compliance with a regulated entity (electric sector experience preferred).
  • Knowledge of current compliance vulnerabilities and mitigation strategies.
  • Knowledge of audit principles.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft tools.
  • Proficient with firewall programming and management.
  • Understanding of compliance management controls.
  • Proficient with internal controls and monitoring/evaluation principles
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to achieve organizational goals.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
