Full Job Description
Position Summary
The Lead Commissioning Agent oversees the technical aspects of commissioning, retro-commissioning and energy related services for complex buildings and systems. They assist in achieving client satisfaction and efficient project execution when called upon to attend client meetings and provide technical resource/expertise. The employee provides mentoring and guidance, ensuring that HBS has a highly trained, professional staff with all of the necessary credentials that will enable HBS to perform any work, anywhere, at any time, confidently, and by doing so, create a competitive advantage for HBS in the marketplace. This employee must have advanced proficiency in MEP equipment/system technical, industry, code, and standards knowledge and be proficient in the management of complex commissioning projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Trains, mentors, and evaluates the performance of employees from a technical standpoint.
  • Assists the commissioning team with questions and escalated issues.
  • Creates technical standards/tools to help develop high caliber, multi-discipline commissioning talent. Aid in the development of process improvements.
  • Develops and administers a comprehensive commissioning training program. Establishes curriculum, assembles modules and conducts training.
  • Maintains an employee goal and development matrix, determines team strengths and opportunities, and customizes development strategies for individual team members in their pursuit of technical competency and certification.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Oversees project commissioning, retro-commissioning and energy related services on selected jobs from the technical point of view.
  • Assists in the development of commissioning strategies, plans, tests and reports. Attends kickoff meetings to provide input.
  • Develops, implements, and shares strategies to improve project performance.
  • Provides insight and advanced troubleshooting expertise.
  • Reviews project deliverables in a quality control effort.
  • Additional responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following: Review scope and fee for commissioning proposals, ensuring project quality, attend kick-off meetings, and attend weekly Technical Leader meetings.
  • Support business development efforts to target clients as part of the business development tactical team effort.
  • Drives repeat business through technical excellence.
  • Participates in client, company, and industry events at the discretion of the leadership group.
  • Collaborates with others to identify and analyze business development opportunities that are strategically aligned with the Company's objectives, pass on to the Director of Business Development.
  • When called upon, serves as a team member in sales situations to describe value and instill technical competence.
  • Conducts seminars for prospects and clients as determined by the business development tactical team (presentations, lunch & learns, etc.) all intended to land profitable work and grow the organization.
  • Assists with proposal development for project pursuits.
  • Reviews scope and budget within proposals when called upon.
  • Assists in the development of department strategic plans, goals, and budgets from an employee development and technical standpoint.
  • Assists with developing, evaluating and refining methodologies, tools, processes and standards in support of an evolving commissioning practice.


Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering or related field required
  • NEBB certification required
  • BCxA certification required
  • Valid driver's license
  • 10 years related technical experience required, including 3 or more years managing MEP commissioning projects
  • Experience in team approach to executing complex commissioning projects
  • Advanced experience with industry codes and standards
  • Must demonstrate proficiency in all core competencies as described and characterized in this job description.

  • Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
