Overview

The Lead Business Process Analyst manages a team of Business Analysts and owns the quality of the practice's requirements and process work. This role is a working leader: someone who can personally facilitate complex process design and requirements discovery, then coach others to do the same. This is not a data or reporting analyst role; the focus is business process, requirements leadership, stakeholder facilitation, and delivery readiness.

Responsibilities

Provide day-to-day oversight, prioritization, workload coordination, and quality review for a team of Business Analysts while remaining hands-on for the practice's most complex or high-priority initiatives.

Set and reinforce Business Analysis standards, templates, quality expectations, signoff requirements, and lifecycle gates across the team.

Review project scope with sponsors and business owners to confirm objectives, outcomes, assumptions, dependencies, constraints, and ownership.

Lead and coach the team through structured discovery, including gathering, documenting, validating, and prioritizing business and technical requirements.

Own backlog readiness and refinement by sequencing work, closing gaps, confirming entry criteria, and keeping unclear or unapproved scope out of development.

Review Business Analyst deliverables for clarity, completeness, traceability, testability, and alignment to approved business outcomes before work advances to development or testing.

Partner with sponsors, business owners, Product or Platform Owners, Project Managers, Technology teams, and vendors to resolve ambiguity, confirm feasibility, and maintain delivery alignment.

Ensure requirements, decisions, risks, dependencies, and changes are documented and traceable throughout the delivery lifecycle.

Maintain requirements alignment through build, testing, and implementation by supporting technical clarification, test and user acceptance testing readiness, defect resolution, business signoff, and operational readiness.

Lead stakeholder conversations involving scope expansion, unclear ownership, competing priorities, or misalignment between business and technical teams; escalate with concise options, tradeoffs, risks, and recommendations.

Coach Business Analysts on facilitation, requirements quality, critical thinking, stakeholder management, communication, and independent ownership of deliverables; support onboarding and individual development plans.

Monitor practice capacity, throughput, backlog health, aging work, and delivery risk; recommend workload or priority adjustments when needed.

Identify recurring process, platform, or delivery gaps and develop practical standards, recommendations, or roadmaps to improve consistency and outcomes.

Help teams identify the most important value to deliver first while maintaining appropriate governance, controls, and traceability.

Prepare concise analysis and reporting that helps project teams and leaders understand delivery status, decisions, risks, dependencies, and required actions.

Maintain accountability for compliance with laws and regulations applicable to the position, including the Univest Code of Conduct.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree with 8-10 years of progressive experience in business analysis, business process design, and requirements leadership; financial-services experience preferred.

Demonstrated experience leading, coaching, or providing direct oversight to a team of Business Analysts or comparable delivery professionals.

Advanced, hands-on experience facilitating process mapping, requirements discovery, impact analysis, and stakeholder validation for complex, cross-functional initiatives, including shaping requirements rather than only documenting needs provided by others.

Prior work in a formal PMO or delivery-governance environment.

Proven ability to translate ambiguous business needs into clear functional requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, process models, and implementation-ready documentation that delivery teams can execute.

Hands-on experience using Jira or a comparable Agile delivery-management platform to manage backlogs, refine user stories, and track requirements through the delivery lifecycle.

Strong judgment and executive presence, with the ability to challenge assumptions constructively, lead difficult conversations with senior stakeholders, and simplify complex tradeoffs into clear options and recommendations.

Solid grounding in Agile and iterative delivery practices, including backlog refinement, prioritization, sprint readiness, definition of ready, and definition of done.

Excellent facilitation, negotiation, stakeholder-management, and written and verbal communication skills.

Experience with Salesforce, nCino, or comparable workflow or CRM platforms preferred.

Wage Range:

The salary for this position ranges from $115,000 to $150,000
