About the Role
Care Lumen is seeking a Lead Application Development Engineer with cloud-based technology experience to drive the modernization and spearhead the development of a unified, next-generation clinical technology platform. This new platform will serve as the foundation for all clinical data and operations across every line of business. By creating a robust and innovative solution, this lead will enable enhanced care management and data-driven decision-making; ultimately working to improve healthcare outcomes for millions of Americans.

We're looking for a thoughtful and self-driven Application Development Engineer to lead a cross-functional team in delivering high-quality software with high resiliency and scalability, and building a strong, cohesive engineering culture. This is a hands-on lead role that has technical oversight on complex feature development, working with multiple stakeholders. You'll play a central role in shaping how we plan, build, and deliver features that matter, while fostering a team environment where engineers thrive.

This role is ideal for someone who loves working closely with Engineers, Cross functional teams, DevOps, Architects, business, product, QA, and scrum teams to align business goals with clean, scalable solutions; and who brings a personal commitment to the team's success.

What You'll Do
  • Accountability: Take responsibility for both feature technical solution delivery and engineering team's daily development progress. You'll set the tone with clear expectations on engineering software deliverables with high quality.
  • Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work closely and productively with cross functional Leads (Internal and External), product Manager, scrum master, and Engineering team to prioritize work, guiding team on solution aligned with overall system architecture, and ensure sprint goals are met.
  • Own the Engineering Backlog: Partner with the Engineering Manager, Product Manager and Scrum Master to maintain a healthy, well-refined backlog that balances feature work, technical debt, and engineering initiatives. Manage multiple competing priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced working environment with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Mentor and Develop Engineers: Work closely with Engineering team in resolving the technical challenges, educating team on overall system architecture with proposed solution alignment and coach engineers in their growth. Create an environment where continuous learning and improvement are core to the team's identity.
  • Ensure Technical Excellence: Advocate for clean, maintainable code and sound software design. Participate in design reviews and encourage high engineering standards across the stack.


What's Required
  • 6-8 years of professional software development experience, preferably in AWS and full-stack environments.
  • Strong understanding of object-oriented design, PWA design, and modern engineering practices.
  • Capable of multitasking and Out of the box thinker with proven problem-solving skills.
  • Possession of excellent analytical skills with close attention to detail, critical thinking and logic.
  • A blend of empathy and accountability-you care about people and know how to drive results.
  • A collaborative mindset-you're a team player who works well across roles and functions.
  • Strong understanding of system designs across platforms such as Storage, Network, Database, & Application in Cloud environment.
  • Strong passion for Continuous learning (health care domain and technical)
  • Working with remote team on daily basis, especially need to coordinate team in different time zone
  • Experience with NestJS, Angular, MongoDB, AWS and Docker
  • Experience with Real time messaging system is a plus
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States for any employer
  • This role requires travel for up to 5% of work-time.
  • This role requires support of the business hours, 8 am to 5 pm EST.

What's Preferred
  • Prior experience in leading the engineers in an agile environment.
  • Exposure on AI tools and its use in software development.
  • Knowledge in ServiceNow, DynaTrace, Splunk and Rancher.
  • Familiarity with test automation and CI/CD best practices.


Compensation & Benefits

The expected total cash compensation for this role is market-driven, with an expected starting salary of $XXXX to $XXXXX. Salary is ultimately determined based on a candidate's skills, expertise, and experience.
