About the JobBlackbird is building a small, high-leverage Strategy & Growth team, and the Lead Analyst is its analytical core. The function decides where Blackbird should grow, how it should grow, and where it should invest growth resources. The Lead Analyst owns how those decisions get measured: the metrics, the models, and the experiments that show whether a growth initiative is working and what to change.
You will report to the Head of Strategy & Growth and work alongside a Strategy & Operations Manager. The role is hands-on and carries real ownership. You will define the metrics the company runs on, build the marketplace models behind major growth initiatives, and set the analytical bar for the function.
Responsibilities- Own Blackbird's growth measurement framework. Define the success metrics, guardrails, and targets for each major growth initiative, then measure performance, validate assumptions, and flag the gaps.
- Build and maintain the analytical layer behind the Cockpit, market scorecards, and growth ROI reporting that leadership and the Board rely on.
- Turn open-ended strategic questions about where to grow next and which investments are paying off into clear, defensible analysis and recommendations.
- Build the models that drive both sides of the marketplace: restaurant composite scoring, market and neighborhood targeting, customer and behavioral segmentation, and Fly Load and lifecycle value models.
- Identify which restaurants and customers create the most long-term value and which behaviors strengthen the marketplace flywheel across TPV, MPU, DPU, retention, and Fly Load growth.
- Stand up the experimentation framework that lets Growth learn quickly, with a high bar for statistical rigor and causal measurement.
- Partner with Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Restaurants to instrument initiatives, define the data we need, and read out results.
- Build lightweight tooling and automation with Product and Engineering to speed up analysis and cut manual reporting.
Requirements- 8+ years in analytics, data science, growth analytics, or a quantitative strategy role, ideally at a high-growth marketplace, fintech, payments, or consumer tech company.
- Expert SQL and a strong analytical toolkit in Python or R for modeling, segmentation, and experimentation, including the ability to write and optimize complex queries over large datasets.
- A track record of turning messy data into decisions that moved a core business metric, with the judgment to know which metric matters.
- Deep experience with experimentation and A/B testing, plus causal measurement methods such as incrementality and holdouts.
- Fluency in marketplace, growth, and unit-economics concepts such as TPV, retention, LTV, ROI, and cohort analysis.
- Experience with BI tools such as Amplitude, Looker, Mode, or Metabase.
- Clear communication with senior audiences, with the ability to take an analysis from the numbers to a recommendation leadership can act on.
- Comfort working with autonomy and ambiguity on a founding team.
Nice to Haves- Experience building or owning a metrics layer or BI environment such as Metabase, Looker, or dbt.
- Background in management consulting, corporate strategy, or a strong growth or analytics team.
- Experience with incentive design, pricing, or paid-acquisition measurement.
- Experience in the restaurant or hospitality industry, or familiarity with crypto and token-based loyalty economics.
