Job Title: Lead, Aerospace Engineering - Combustion

Job Schedule: 9/80 Employees work 9 out of every 14 days - totaling 80 hours worked - and have every other Friday off

Job Description:

Candidate will work in the ATF (Aero Thermal Fluids) group based out of the Canoga Park facility.

The candidate's responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Utilizing a combination of commercial and in-house developed software tools, and/or hand calculation methods to correlate analysis models, review test results, present results at program reviews, and prepare technical documentation.
  • Perform analysis related to gas dynamics, thermodynamics, and combustion instability of space and defense propulsion systems.
  • Perform analytical predictions and simulations of liquid rocket engines and high-speed air-breathing propulsion systems using computer-based math and simulation models, deriving, creating, documenting, managing, planning verification of, and certifying design compliance to requirements and interfaces for development, production and operational environments.
  • May coordinate risk and opportunity management for development and production programs.


Essential Functions:
  • Perform analysis related to gas dynamics, thermodynamics, and combustion instability of space and defense programs as a recognized authority in an engineering specialty area. Responsible for utilizing a combination of commercial and in-house developed software tools, and/or hand calculation methods to correlate analysis models and review test data.
  • Provide technical mentoring and lead knowledge-share initiatives for early career engineers
  • Produce analysis reports and test reports. Present analysis to both internal and external customers.
  • On site and offsite support of qualification and verification tests of propulsion systems and components. Work with designers and project engineers by providing analysis support.
  • Ability to obtain a US LEVEL Security Clearance


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree and minimum 8 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 6 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.


Preferred Additional Skills:
  • Deep knowledge of foundational and advanced principles related to gas dynamics, thermodynamics, and combustion instabilities
  • Extensive experience with programming in MATLAB, FORTRAN, Python, C++
  • Extensive experience with utilizing LINUX & HPC systems
  • Experience with designing and analyzing nozzles utilizing TDK
  • Extensive experience with utilizing COMSOL for combustion instability analysis


In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Washington, and the Greater D.C, Denver, or NYC areas is $102,000 - $189,000. The salary range for this role in Colorado state, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New York state, Cleveland Ohio, and Vermont is $88,500 - $164,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
