Full Job Description
The Litigation Support Team at Leidos currently supporting the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) in Washington, DC has an opening for a Law Clerk II to perform litigation support duties via said role. This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience helping the U.S. Department of Justice achieve their mission. We are a fast-paced group tasked to provide innovative solutions by utilizing technologies that are defensible, efficient, and that present our customers with the knowledge they need to defend their positions. We enjoy a high level of autonomy and exposure to all parts of the Leidos organization.

Typical assignments may include the following but not limited to:
  • Works under the direction of a Supervisory Paralegal or Project Manager performing complex legal research;
  • Preparing draft legal documents, such as motions, briefs, memoranda of law, etc.;
  • Reviewing documents for relevance and privilege;
  • Assisting attorneys with all phases of litigation.
  • Acts independently and/or as a team leader on larger projects.
  • Responsibilities may include acting as primary interface with trial attorneys, experts, and other client staff.
  • Assists in drafting of Program's decisions. In many claims, the Program's decision sets the foundation for subsequent administrative and judicial review.
  • Reviewing documents for relevance and privilege.
  • Demonstrated ability to discern the relevant issues in complex fact patterns.


Basic Qualifications:
  • Requires Law degree, or currently attending an ABA-accredited law school, having completed at least two years of study or, an equivalent level of legal training or experience; or an equivalent level of education may be substituted.
  • Additionally, must have 2+ years of progressively more responsible experience on litigation support projects or task order related projects including proven capabilities and communication skills to successfully interact with clients and attorneys.
  • Requires sound working knowledge of federal and state court systems, legal research procedures, and legal research resources.
  • Thorough knowledge of legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw.
  • Must have hands-on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word processing, databases (such as document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, and imaging.
  • Role also requires hands-on familiarity with ESI tools and knowledge of eDiscovery procedures and resources.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Ability to consistently deliver highest quality work under extreme pressure will be very important.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain a Public Trust clearance.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in a Government and/or Litigation Support environment in conjunction with basic qualifications, preferred.
  • Experience with Relativity, helpful and should be referenced within resume, if applicable.
  • Trial experience very helpful.
  • Experience with (or an interest in) informal adjudications under an agency's enabling act and regulations.
  • Experience handling large volume of cases or claims, strongly preferred.
  • Current or active clearance.


This position is covered under the Service Contract Act and is subject to minimum requirements. Leidos ensures that all provisions are satisfied. The pay for this position will be $46.90/hr.
