Position ProfileThe Administrative Office of the Courts is seeking a passionate and dedicated Court Program Analyst
(Language Access Plan Coordinator) to provide guidance, problem solving, and technical assistance to trial courts about language access requirements, with a goal of strengthening statewide consistency and quality in language access practices. If you're driven by equity, improving language access, and meaningful public service, this role offers the chance to directly improve how Washingtonians experience the justice system.
As part of the Office of Court Innovation, you'll join a collaborative Language Access Team within the Supreme Court Commissions unit - experts focused on racial equity, gender equity, language access, and tribal relations in Washington State Courts. You'll work alongside skilled policy analysts and coordinators addressing real issues impacting our court system today.
In this role, you will provide technical assistance to trial courts to help them meet the language access requirements in RCW 2.43.090 and other applicable laws, rules, and policies. Conduct a comprehensive review of Language Access Plans (LAPs) submitted by courts to the AOC. Support courts in improving LAP quality and compliance over time.Support language access improvements through policy analysis and research.Build and maintain productive relationships with courts, interpreters, advocates, state agency counterparts, community organizations, and national partners. Support Language Access Team projects and represent the Team in committees and work groups. Support other teams at AOC with language access matters.
Success in this position calls for strong organization and project management practices, collaboration, clear communication, solid writing skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities at once. A successful candidate will be able to adapt to evolving processes, demonstrate initiative, exercise sound judgment, and make recommendations. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook, M365 tools, and virtual meeting platforms is important, along with a demonstrated commitment to advancing equitable access to justice.

Duties and ResponsibilitiesSome of the duties you will perform are:
- Works closely with other members of the Language Access Team to coordinate service delivery to courts and support other teams at AOC on language access matters.
- Conducts a comprehensive review of Language Access Plans (LAPs) submitted by courts to the AOC.
- Coordinate with the Language Access and Interpreter Reimbursement Program to support program compliance requirements.
- Responds to courts' requests for technical assistance on language access plans and interpreter services.
- Supports courts in improving LAP quality and compliance over time.
- Provides guidance and support for the Washington Supreme Court's LAP and other language access initiatives.
- Conducts research through reference materials, consulting with subject matter experts, or other methods as appropriate.
- Updates and maintains a Language Access Plan (LAP) template and Deskbook.
- Becomes familiar with existing court resources related to language access to identify resource gaps and better support courts with implementing their LAPs.
- Develops or updates guidance materials, templates, FAQs, and other training resources.
- Tracks and escalates recurring issues or systemic barriers.
- Coordinates with Language Access Team and other education and subject matter experts to deliver training for judges and court staff.
- Delivers training on the LAP template and developing LAPs.
- Builds and maintains productive relationships with courts, interpreters, advocates, community organizations, and national partners.
- Coordinates committees or work groups of court stakeholders on language access issues, including developing agendas, scheduling and facilitating meetings, and providing administrative support, as assigned.
- Provides regular reports to the Interpreter and Language Access Commission and other interested groups about the program.
- Helps maintain team website content and outreach materials.
- Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications and Credentials- Bachelor's degree in court administration, public administration, political science, business administration or closely allied field
AND- Three (3) years of experience in court administration and/or program development.
A combination of education and experience demonstrating a working knowledge of the functions of the position may be considered in meeting the qualifications baseline.
THE IDEAL APPLICANT WILL ALSO HAVE SOME OR ALL OF THE FOLLOWING EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES- Experience working directly with individuals who are Limited English Proficient (LEP) and/or Deaf or hard of hearing.
- Familiarity with language access laws, policies, and best practices and experience with language access planning.
- Experience in the field of interpreting or translation.
- Experience with program coordination in the government, legal, or non-profit sectors.
- Experience creating and sharing content on different communication and visualization platforms (i.e. websites, Adobe, social media, etc.)
- Experience working on issues of equity and access to justice, and an ability to discuss issues related to race, gender, and/or language access.
