We are seeking an experienced Construction Division Manager to lead our Construction Department and help drive the next phase of growth for our organization.

Position Summary

The Construction Division Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, performance, and growth of SS Landscaping's Construction Division. This role oversees departmental profitability, project execution, staffing, resource allocation, equipment management, scheduling, quality control, and operational planning.

The ideal candidate is a proven construction leader with strong operational, financial, and personnel management experience who can effectively lead project managers, field teams, and support staff while maintaining a focus on customer satisfaction and profitability.

Primary ResponsibilitiesOperational Leadership
  • Lead and execute departmental goals related to revenue growth, profitability, quality, and customer service.
  • Develop and manage departmental budgets, forecasts, and operational plans.
  • Evaluate and adjust staffing levels, equipment resources, vehicles, tools, and materials.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and profitability.
  • Coordinate activities between construction, maintenance, administration, and executive leadership teams.

Project Management Oversight
  • Provide leadership and professional oversight to Project Managers and Construction Foremen.
  • Review project schedules, staffing allocations, and workload distribution.
  • Ensure projects are executed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget.
  • Monitor project performance and assist with issue resolution when necessary.
  • Review project financial performance including billing, cost tracking, and profitability.

Personnel Management
  • Recruit, interview, hire, and onboard construction personnel.
  • Conduct performance reviews and support employee development initiatives.
  • Participate in wage and compensation evaluations.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, professionalism, and teamwork.
  • Support leadership development within the construction division.

Equipment & Asset Management
  • Oversee fleet and equipment management programs.
  • Ensure timely inspections, maintenance, and repair coordination.
  • Evaluate equipment replacement and purchasing needs.
  • Coordinate procurement of tools and equipment required for field operations.
  • Monitor equipment utilization and field maintenance practices.

Technology & Systems Management
  • Coordinate deployment and management of computers, tablets, and mobile devices.
  • Work closely with IT and administrative staff to ensure field teams have appropriate technology resources.
  • Support the implementation and utilization of operational software systems and technology initiatives.

Estimating & Strategic Planning
  • Assist with estimating and preconstruction activities as workload requires.
  • Evaluate project opportunities and support bid/no-bid decisions.
  • Review estimating practices, production rates, pricing structures, and proposal formats.
  • Coordinate construction workload forecasting with estimating personnel.
  • Identify internal and external growth opportunities that align with company objectives.

Financial Management
  • Review monthly project performance, billing, and profitability metrics.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership on forecasting and strategic planning.
  • Analyze completed projects to improve future estimating accuracy and operational performance.
  • Drive initiatives that improve departmental margins and overall company profitability.

Qualifications Required Experience

Preferred Experience
  • Commercial landscape construction experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with estimating, project management, and operational software platforms.
  • Experience managing large-scale commercial construction projects and crews.

Licenses
