Full Job Description
The Land Manager is responsible for managing and optimizing a portfolio of land and reserve assets in the province of Ontario to achieve maximum value. This includes managing all land use authorizations and permits, leases and other land agreements, and real property taxes. This role is also key in developing strategic opportunities for growth through the acquisition and permitting of new land and reserves, in addition to managing the sale of non-strategic surplus lands. The Land Manager will collaborate and work closely with general managers and operational teams, as well as functional teams including legal, manufacturing, environment and finance.

WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH
  • Understand, demonstrate, and promote Amrize's safety culture through field presence, employee engagement and implementation of local and regional health and safety objectives.
  • Manage all land acquisition and divestment processes, including the development of reserve replenishment and surplus land strategies, and lead negotiations, due diligence and capital planning.
  • Manage all land use planning approvals, including provincial licences/permits and municipal Official Plan and Zoning By-Law amendments.
  • Develop and manage capital project budgets and external project consultants to meet stated timelines.
  • Manage all agency and stakeholder engagement.
  • Lead negotiations and management of all land use agreements, including leases, licences, royalty and common property boundary agreements.
  • Provide operational support, including supporting market area teams to ensure regulatory compliance and collaborate on the development of stripping, extraction, rehabilitation and circular economy plans.
  • Manage real property tax for portfolio of properties, including appealing assessments where required.
  • Develop and manage relationships with stakeholders, including neighbours, community groups, local organizations, environmental groups, First Nations, politicians and governmental agencies.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviours.


WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in land use planning, engineering, landscape architecture, geology, geography or similar field.
  • Work Experience: Minimum 5 years work experience in land or resource management, real estate, land management, mining or construction materials industry.
  • Certifications: Professional designation in a related field (P.Eng, P. Geo, OALA, etc.) is a plus.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in land management and mapping applications including GIS and Google Earth, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Travel: 20-40%, mostly day trips to sites.


Additional Requirements:
  • Possess a working knowledge of land management best practices and processes.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including interpretation of rules, laws, and agreements.
  • Demonstrated negotiation skills and ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong understanding of land use planning and permitting processes.
  • Willingness to attend public meetings, sometimes in the evening.
  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
