Position Summary
Centennial College is hiring a Lab Technician, Aerospace Manufacturing Engineering to join our Faculty of Applied Sciences, Engineering Technology, Trades & Transportation (ASENT3). The successful candidate will support lab operations, including maintaining equipment and supplies, assisting with student supervision, mentoring during lab activities, ensuring safe practices, analyzing asset and inventory data and providing feedback on student progress.

Responsibilities
  • Support the setup, operation, and maintenance of aerospace manufacturing lab environments
  • Prepare and maintain lab equipment and systems, ensuring they are safe, clean, properly identified, and in good working order
  • Contribute as a subject matter expert to support curriculum development and revision
  • Utilize CMMS (ServiceNow) to manage and issue work orders, support continuous improvement initiatives, and generate reports on maintenance metrics such as frequency and cost per work order.
  • Maintain and analyze asset and inventory data, including spare parts, while supporting predictive and preventive maintenance strategies using data insights.
  • Ensure the effective and efficient use of the laboratories by students
  • Assist in learning activities and in evaluating students' laboratory
  • Controls supplies and equipment purchases using computer skills
  • Maintain contacts with relevant industry and professional associations
  • Remain current in technical knowledge and instructional delivery techniques
  • Assist in capital projects from purchasing, installation, to start-up of the equipment
  • Ensuring all systems are functional and operational in accordance with systems specifications
  • Under supervision, affix repairs to minor equipment as directed
  • Other program related activities as directed.

Qualifications/Experience
  • 3-year degree or diploma in Aerospace, Electro-mechanical or Engineering Technology or equivalent college program is required.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in fault-finding, troubleshooting, and repair of electronic, electrical, mechanical, or electromechanical equipment and machinery. Hands-on laboratory or technical services experience is an asset.
  • Demonstrated expertise in aerospace manufacturing technologies and hands-on experience with industrial automation, robotics integration, and automated processes
  • Demonstrated relevant technical experience in aerospace manufacturing environments, including familiarity with manufacturing systems, quality control & standards, and production technologies;
  • Effective interpersonal and communications skills (both verbal and written)
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a team and individually
  • Demonstrated understanding of diversity, equity and inclusion to meet the needs of our diverse students, staff and college community
