JOB DESCRIPTION

Lab Supervisor - CLS - Sacramento, CA, Monday to Friday, 5:00 PM to 1:30 AM

Pay range: $108,680.00 - $184,690.00 / year

Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. Successful candidates may be eligible to receive annual performance bonus compensation.

This position plans, organizes, schedules, and directs the work of the section in order to effectively maximize employee, equipment, and material utilization within budgetary constraints while adhering to quality technical standards. Provides direct on-site supervision of specimen workflow, test performance, quality, compliance, and associated documentation to adhere to the department and company policies and procedures.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Maintains adequate staffing by interviewing, hiring, training, and competency assessment of personnel.
  • Performs the scheduling, planning, staffing, and monitoring of workflow to meet established goals.
  • Provides staff development throughregular communication/feedback,effectiveperformancemanagement,and corrective counseling.
  • Provides technical oversight of area(s) of responsibilityand serves as a technical resource for problem-solving and process improvement to ensure accurate test performance.
  • Monitors and ensures implementation of goals to meet established quality assurance, quality control, and quality improvement plans.
  • Procures appropriate supplies and equipment to maximize department efficiency and meet established budgetary and quality goals.
  • Performsdirect specimen testing/troubleshooting as needed to maintain adequate workflow.
  • Uses effective two-way communication in leading/participating in general laboratory/section meetings.Ensures Performance Boards are updated and Huddles are taking place on a regular basis.
  • Ensures compliance with all regulatory agency requirements through documentation, audits, and corrective action.
  • Interacts with internal and external customers to ensure proper sample handling and reporting.
  • Participates in the updating of departmental standard operating procedures and database to accurately reflect the current practices.
  • Participates in supervisory skills training.
  • Supportscontinuousimprovementactivities.
  • Supports, implements, andensures compliance with all department and company policies and procedures.
  • Complies with all health and safety policies, procedures, and practices. Required to use personal protective equipment.

Required WorkExperience:

  • Minimum of 6 years of experience as a medical technologist or equivalent in a clinical laboratory environment

Physical and Mental Requirements:

  • The normal performance of duties may require lifting and carrying objects. Objects in the weight range of 1 to 10 pounds are lifted and carried frequently; objects in the weight range of 11 to 25 pounds are lifted and carried occasionally and objects in the weight range of 26 to 50 pounds are seldom lifted and carried. Objects exceeding 50 pounds are not to be lifted or carried without assistance.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks. Frequent simple grasping, reaching and fine manipulation.
  • Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods.
  • Have good eye and hand coordination.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Application (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Must have proven leadership, interpersonal, communication, and technical skills in the specialty area being supervised.

Education

  • Bachelors Degree Medical Technology or related field. (Required)

Licenses and Certifications

  • Current State Clinical Laboratory Scientist license if necessary (e.g. California) (Required)
