Lead all manufacturing engineering, encompassing capital and process development projects, providing superior technical knowledge. Responsible for providing leadership, outstanding people skills and management to a team of Manufacturing & Tooling Engineers. Responsible for installation and improvement of production lines, managing contractors and ensuring that Health, Safety and Environmental requirements are adhered to. The role has full budgetary responsibility for the department. Implement and manage continuous improvement principles by highlighting deficiencies and recommending changes in training, working practices and processes, as well as being engaged in those improvements on the shop floor.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (*Essential)

1. Contribute to the creation and implementation of best practice production engineering; planning vision, strategy, policies, processes, and procedures to aid and improve operational performance. *

2. Designs, implements, and refines product development, testing, and manufacturing processes. *

3. Manages staff and assigns tasks to engineering and technical personnel. *

4. Leads teams in the development of new processes, solutions, and products as needed. *

5. Oversees project logistics and resource allocation. *

6. Strives to improve efficiency and sustainability of processes and product designs, and to reduce waste. *

7. Secures the resources needed for teams to excel, including researching and proposing capital investments.*

8. Helps to create and oversee project budgets and engages in cost management strategies. *

9. Advocates on behalf of team members by securing adequate resources for success. *

10. Communicates technical information to non-technical stakeholders, including investors and potential customers. *

11. Maintains high level expertise in their field or sector. *

12. Assures that processes meet quality and safety compliance guidelines. *

13. Collaborates with other team leaders and departments. *

14. Forges and maintains relationships with suppliers and customers. *

15. Ensure the delivery of the People Strategy within area of accountability . *

16. Manage and lead the team, ensuring adequate staffing levels, managing holiday allowances, recruitment, training, development, appraisal, attendance, disciplinary issues and daily supervision to maximize efficient productivity. *

17. Motivate and coach the team to operational success. *

18. Monitor the completion of tasks and ensure good performance and record on appropriate systems. *

19. Consistently promote high standards through personal example and roll out through the team so that each member of the team understands the standards and behaviors expected of them. *

20. Review, implement and update company records e.g. training matrices, performance reviews, risk assessments. *

21. Lead the team in new product and process introduction. *

22. Set department objectives/KPIs and review and assess ongoing performance of direct reports. *

23. Communicate KPIs from the strategic annual plan so that each employee is aware. *

24. Report on achievement of targets and identify any actions required. *

25. Ensure that the function operates in accordance with any health, safety and environmental policies and procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of staff and visitors. *

26. Provide technical expertise to the team. *

Education Requirements:
