Full Job Description
The Role -

Amphenol Military & Aerospace Operations is seeking a Key Account Manager for the Baltimore, MD area.

The Key Account Manager will:
  • Cover all locations of Northrop Grumman in the Baltimore area only (Linthicum, Troy Hill, Annapolis, and Sykesville)
  • Work directly with strategically targeted customers focused on the Aerospace & Defense Markets
  • Work with Amphenol Product Marketing, Application Engineering, Program Managers, Customer Service, and Business Unit Management Teams to maintain and grow current business and relationships, and leverage Amphenol's position to get other products from other business units sold at the account; these accounts are target rich with interconnect products and generally will have three or more Amphenol Business Units currently booking significant business
  • Work remotely from a home office in the Baltimore, MD area or within driving distance (2 hours or less)

The key responsibilities of the Key Account Manager include, but are not limited to:
  • 12-month forecast on significant programs and products for all Business Units both direct through subcontractors & through distribution, the forecast for unique Amphenol callouts should be understood and represented with a high degree of confidence when the customer has a contract or working to secure a contract
  • Demand creation power point forms filled out and turned into the Business Unit & Management teams quarterly
  • Monthly account activity report to be distributed to appropriate Business Units covering new design, report card status, current programs/contracts, issues and concerns
  • Travel to Business Units once a quarter for a detailed account review from new design & forecast and overall business outlook for the current quarter and following quarter, plan the appropriate amount of time needed for the reviews, schedule them at least 30 days in advance
  • Travel with factory personnel into accounts as needed to support design, manufacturing, quality and new opportunities
  • It is up to the Key Account Manager to manage the traffic of the Amphenol Business Unit personnel wanting to travel into an account
  • When traveling into an account the Key Account Manager must have a clear objective of why they are visiting the account with the factory representatives and what the desired outcome is
  • The Key Account Manager must plan appropriately and always have the "finish line in sight"
  • Travel to Amphenol factories when appropriate to engage the team on new designs & critical deliveries, sell the factories on why the program and new design is vital to our success
  • Will be responsible with the inside team to have the ability to view & help manage the Electronic Purchasing & Report Card system the customer may be using
  • Work monthly with the Quality Teams & Inside Sales Teams at the customer and Amphenol Business Unit on maintaining an acceptable level of performance on quality/delivery & affordability
  • If a Business Unit outside of the Key Account Manager's responsibility is weighing us down, will work with appropriate management team to get the issue resolved
  • Program breakout with complete Bill of Material by Amphenol Product / Business Unit & quantity per system and sales dollars potentials

Salary - $80,000 - $130,000

The Person -

The key skills and qualities of a Key Account Manager at Amphenol Military & Aerospace Operations:
  • Working knowledge of the strategic accounts identified by Amphenol management, as well as a comprehensive understanding of what the customer's end products are and an understanding of the customers' interconnect needs
  • Strong account relationships with engineering, purchasing, subcontracts & key decision makers preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or business with a minimum of 5 years' experience in an interconnect related field
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and adept at both oral & written communications
  • Proficiency working with Microsoft Office
  • Confidentiality
  • Must be a team player
  • Must be able to work in a fast pace, demanding environment supporting multiple Business Units and Product lines
  • Travel extensively within designated geography 70 to 80% of the time
