Ragle Inc. is seeking a
Jr. Estimator to join our Dallas/Fort Worth Heavy Highway Division. This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, team-focused, and eager to gain both office and field experience in heavy civil construction.Key Responsibilities
- Assist in coordinating the total estimating effort for assigned bids and projects
- Review proposal specifications, drawings, and attend pre-bid meetings to determine scope of work
- Perform quantity takeoffs and support the preparation of detailed cost estimates
- Analyze project risks and incorporate historical data into unit costs and man-hour estimates
- Assist in evaluating subcontractor and vendor quotes
- Support bid preparation and help determine cost-effectiveness of projects
- Communicate with clients, vendors, and internal teams to resolve scope or pricing questions
- Review final estimates and assist with applying strategic cost factors
Field Exposure Requirement- Participate in site visits for projects during the bidding phase to better understand scope and conditions
- Complete a field engineering rotation on projects you assisted in estimating, providing onsite support as needed
- This role requires time in the field; work hours may vary based on project needs
Qualifications & Requirements- 1+ years of heavy civil estimating experience preferred but not required
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering
- Strong attention to detail and ability to interpret construction drawings
- Basic understanding of construction methods and terminology
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Self-motivated with a willingness to learn and adapt
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Experience with estimating software (HeavyBid), scheduling software (MS Project or Primavera), or similar tools is a plus
