What Impact You'll Have

GRVTY is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Electrical Engineer to join our innovative engineering team in Ventura, CA. This is an opportunity to develop and test systems for our groundbreaking Autonomous Undersea Vehicle (AUV) Family of Systems and advanced guidance, navigation, and controls (GNC) technology. You will work alongside subsea domain experts and gain hands-on experience with power systems, embedded electronics, underwater connectors, sensor integration, and vehicle system architecture. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent engineering graduate to build a meaningful career in the maritime autonomy and defense technology sectors. You will join a team of dedicated engineers and scientists who are pushing the boundaries of maritime technology to deliver exceptional products and capabilities.

What You'll be Owning
  • Support the design, development, testing, and integration of electrical and electronic subsystems for UUVs and other maritime platforms.
  • Produce designs for power subsystems, cabling, and electronics
  • Develop test plans and conduct bench testing of subassemblies and support system integration and test
  • Assist in selection and qualification of COTS components suitable for underwater and marine environments
  • Technical Lead for projects as appropriate
  • Provides mentoring for interns
  • Contribute to proposals and presentations
  • Lead/contributing author on reports/papers and presents work at meetings when appropriate

What You Must Have
  • Master's degree in electrical engineering or a closely related field
  • 3 or more years of professional experience (internships, co-ops, or capstone project experience)
  • Foundational knowledge of analog and digital circuits, power electronics, and processing platforms
  • Advanced foundation in electrical engineering practices and principles as well as ability to apply them
  • Ability to interpret electrical diagrams and schematics
  • Experience with standard lab equipment: oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, etc.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to practice effective time management of goals and deadlines
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills; Ability to produce clear technical documentation
  • Ability to research existing solutions to problems and perform basic tradeoff analyses
  • This is a full-time position with the expectation of a minimum 40-hour commitment per work week. The regular workdays are Monday - Friday around the core hours of 9:00 am to 3:00 pm with a 100% on-site requirement. Regular attendance is essential to permit the team to function effectively. The job is performed in an indoor office environment. An employee in this position frequently sits or stands in the same location with opportunity to move about; regularly thinks, concentrates, analyzes, interprets, interacts with others, and communicates orally and in writing; regularly reads, sees, hears, and speaks; regularly uses a computer; and frequently uses hands to write, type, finger, handle, or feel.

What Would be Nice to Have
  • Academic or project experience with underwater vehicles, robotics, or maritime/defense systems
  • Exposure to embedded systems or microcontroller-based designs
  • Familiarity with communication protocols: UART, SPI, I2C, RS-485, Ethernet, CAN bus
  • Experience with MATLAB, Python, or LabView for data analysis or test automation
  • Prior internship or co-op experience at a defense contractor or marine technology company
