As a Junior Data Engineer, you will support the development and maintenance of data pipelines and solutions on the Janus Henderson Data Platform. Working as part of a collaborative engineering team, you will build your technical skills while contributing to delivering high-quality, reliable data to the business.
You will learn how to design, build, and support modern data pipelines, while gaining exposure to cloud data platforms, engineering best practices, and financial data domains.
- Assist in building and maintaining data pipelines using Snowflake, Databricks, and related technologies (with support from senior engineers)
- Work with other engineers and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver solutions
- Write and optimise SQL queries to transform and validate data
- Contribute to Python-based data processing and automation tasks
- Follow team standards for CI/CD, testing, and observability to ensure data quality and pipeline reliability
- Support production systems, including monitoring jobs, investigating issues, and assisting with root cause analysis
- Apply data governance and security standards in line with firm policies
- Participate actively in team ceremonies (e.g., stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives)
- Carry out other duties as assigned.

Must have skills
- Foundational knowledge of data engineering or data processing concepts
- Basic proficiency in SQL (e.g., querying, joins, aggregations)
- Working knowledge of Python for data tasks (or willingness to learn quickly)
- Understanding of data pipelines or ETL/ELT concepts
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Good communication skills and willingness to learn from others
Nice to have skills
- Exposure (academic or practical) to Snowflake, Databricks, or other cloud data platforms
- Familiarity with dbt or similar transformation tools
- Awareness of CI/CD or version control (e.g., Git)
- Exposure to orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, Autosys)
- Basic understanding of data governance or data quality concepts
- Experience with Azure or other cloud platforms

Compensation information
The base salary range for this position is $80,000-$85,000. This range is estimated for this role. Actual pay may be different. This position will be open through August 31, 2026.
