Full Job Description
Your opportunity We are seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to join our team as the Head of Operations and Investor Relations for Ascent, JHI's internal platform for private investments, currently targeted at the pre-IPO / crossover stage. The platform conducts direct investments into private companies through externally raised capital, currently in single-transaction vehicles, but over time through scalable fund offerings. In this role you will:
  • Be responsible for overseeing and managing all fund formation activities, including risk management, fund administration, legal, compliance, and finance, ensuring operational efficiency and supporting strategic growth initiatives
  • Develop and implement fund formation policies, procedures, and systems to enhance efficiency and effectiveness
  • Collaborate with Portfolio Managers and senior executives to develop and execute the Ascent Crossover Opportunity strategic plan
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards
  • Monitor and manage internal and external relationships overseeing fund administration activities including risk management
  • Manage relationships with investors, including institutional investors and high-net-worth individuals
  • Collaborate with distribution for marketing and onboarding of prospective clients
  • Play a critical role in communicating our investment strategies, performance, and market outlook to existing and prospective investors
  • Serve as Director on Cayman fund offerings requiring annual training and familiarity with Cayman AML regulations
  • Represent Ascent platform at industry conferences and client meetings
  • Develop and implement investor relations strategies to enhance communication and engagement with investors
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for investor inquiries, meetings and reporting
  • Prepare and deliver presentations, reports, and materials for investor meetings and conferences to strengthen investor relationships and drive fundraising efforts
  • Cultivate new relationships with prospective LPs, endowments and HNW clients
  • Actively collaborate with internal stakeholders e.g. portfolio managers, analysts, sales, distribution, product, press and counterparty management teams to ensure accurate and timely communication of investment performance and strategy updates
  • Monitor industry trends, competitor activities, and investor sentiment to provide insights and recommendations to senior management
  • Serve as SME for client due diligence process, including responding to RFPs and DDQs
  • Manage the investor relations team, including hiring, training and performance management

Must have skills
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, business, or a related field
  • Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in a senior product or operational role, within the hedge fund, private equity or asset management industry
  • Strong knowledge of private fund administration, including vendor oversight, risk management, compliance and finance
  • Proven track record of successfully building and managing strategic initiatives driving efficiency in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong understanding of financial markets, investment strategies, and portfolio management principles
  • Strategic thinking with a results-oriented mindset and the ability to drive investor engagement and fundraising initiatives
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex investment concepts to a diverse audience
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry best practices in investor relations and hedge fund investments
  • Proven track record of building and maintaining relationships with institutional investors, fund managers, and industry professionals
  • Ability to develop relationships to lead internal working groups
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite and investor relations platforms (e.g. CRM systems, investor portals)

Compensation information The base salary range for this position is $200,000 - $250,000. This range is estimated for this role. Actual pay may be different.
