Full Job Description
Job Title: Journeyman Wireman
Location: Avery Operations Center
Pay: $70.87/ hour
Hours: Day Shift


It is recognized that the Company is engaged in a public service requiring continuous operation, and it is agreed that recognition of such an obligation of continuous service is imposed upon both the Company and the Union.

Perform all duties of journeyman wireman in connection with preventive and corrective maintenance, testing, and electrical construction at generating plants, substations, and other facilities.

DUTIES: (Essential Job Responsibilities)
• Work safely
• Will be required to work at elevated heights.
• Must be able to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical devices.
• Work on temporary assignment at other location as assigned.
• Perform all installation, testing, and maintenance of motors, generators, exciters, regulators, power transformers, switchboards, air, oil, and SF6 circuit breakers, battery and battery charging systems, emergency generators, relays, conduit, and bus.
• Install, test, and maintain lighting circuits, power circuits, and control circuits
• Perform all aspects of construction, maintenance, and testing of various equipment at PGE substations and facilities
• Refurbish and Process Distribution Transformers and related Equipment
• Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: (Knowledge/Skills/Experience Required)
• Be a journeyman wireman.
• Possess and maintain a CDL Class A driver's license with air brake and tanker endorsement.
• Must pass pre-placement medical examination and drug screen.

The position for which you are applying is covered under the Department of Transportation and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration regulations as defined in 49 CFR Part 40 and 49 CFR Parts 380, 390 and 391 which became effective on October 29, 2004. If you have been employed by PGE for less than 3 years, once you submit your Bid, you will receive a Supplemental Application form. The information you provide on the form related to the names and addresses of your previous employers during the preceding 3 years, dates of employment, reasons for leaving employment, whether you were subject to FMCSA while employed, whether your job was designated as a safety sensitive function in any DOT mode, may be used and your previous employers may be contacted.

During the probationary period following reassignment to any job, at least two progress reports will be completed. These reports will be discussed with the employee by his/her immediate supervisor, and copies of each will be given to him/her.
