  • Program robotics (both online and offline), perform 3D modeling, and create technical documentation for welding jigs
  • Provide technical support to the Sourcing Department during quotes, offer verification, and supplier selection

Job Title: Jigs and Tools Engineer

Job Location: Hornell, NY

Job Type: Full Time

Rate of Pay: $91,333/year to $100,466/year

Duties: Responsible for technical assumption for new jigs, jig concept review, and final design review for automated and robotic line stainless-steel railway project. Define specific tooling, and validate manufacturing and implementation in production. Collaborate with Process Engineer, Production, Sourcing, EHS and Quality departments during design, start-up, and validation of the production line. Define the layout of workshops and workstations. Design assembly lines. For tenders, identify the need for tooling with the PIM and the Costing Manager. Evaluate the total tooling cost including study (specification and design), manufacturing and implementation, and maintenance. Identify the potential footprint of the manufacturing process and evaluate impact on existing and scheduled activities. Evaluate the total layout cost, including study (specification and design) and realization. Perform online and offline robotics programming, 3D modeling, and create technical documentation of welding jigs working with robots. Provide technical support to the Sourcing Department during quote, offers verification, and supplier choosing. Validate the manufactured tooling. Contribute to the Alstom Tooling database of standard tooling specifications. Participate in continuous improvement actions (SWIP) to support Production.

10% domestic & 10% international travel required.

Requirements: Employer will accept a Master's degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Automation Engineering or related field and 2 years of experience in the job offered or in a Jigs and Tools Engineer-related occupation.
