Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer with strong full-stack development experience and expertise in Python, FastAPI, RESTful services, and enterprise secrets-management solutions.
This person will design and develop scalable applications, improve system reliability and security, mentor engineers, and lead the implementation of significant technical capabilities.
Required:
• Strong front-end and back-end application development experience.
• 5+ years of Python development experience.
• Strong proficiency with FastAPI.
• 5+ years of experience developing RESTful web services and APIs.
• Hands-on experience with at least one of the following:
o HashiCorp Vault
o AWS Secrets Manager
o Azure Key Vault
• Strong understanding of secure coding, system reliability, observability, and performance optimization.
• Proficiency with databases and persistence frameworks.
• Experience with PostgreSQL, object-relational mapping, and query performance tuning.
• Experience working with a cloud platform, preferably Microsoft Azure.
Preferred:
• 5+ years of experience with React, TypeScript, and JavaScript.
• Strong knowledge of object-oriented design principles and techniques.
• 3+ years of experience with Terraform and HashiCorp Vault.
• 3+ years of professional software design or open-source development experience.
• 3+ years of experience using Git and GitHub.
• 3+ years of experience working across Windows and Linux environments.
• Experience with cloud, distributed, and midrange systems.
• Shell scripting experience.
• Experience creating reusable libraries, frameworks, or shared technical components.
Responsibilities:
• Design, develop, test, and implement large-scale front-end and back-end applications.
• Build scalable APIs and microservices using Python, FastAPI, and RESTful architecture.
• Write automated tests and document code, scripts, systems, and technical processes according to organizational standards.
• Design self-contained systems and lead the implementation of major capabilities within existing platforms.
• Integrate and manage secrets using HashiCorp Vault, AWS Secrets Manager, or Azure Key Vault.
• Conduct root-cause analysis and recommend solutions for system-level problems.
• Improve application reliability, resiliency, security, performance, and maintainability.
• Break down complex technical designs into manageable components that can be maintained by other engineers.
• Establish monitoring, instrumentation, and observability practices for applications in development.
• Define test suites and performance monitoring to ensure production latency and availability targets are met.
• Identify vulnerabilities and potential attack surfaces and guide teams in implementing security best practices.
• Promote reusable components, libraries, and development standards across teams.
• Identify smaller, high-value work items that can be delivered quickly.
• Mentor engineers and support their technical development.
• Evaluate and introduce new technologies and engineering approaches where appropriate.
