Java Backend Engineer
Specialist I - Software Engineering
UST is looking for a strong Java Backend Engineer to work on a multi-vendor multi-geo team to help build a NextGen High Scale Enterprise Platform. This is strictly work from office position and is not open to remote roles.
The opportunity:
• Designed, developed, and maintained enterprise-grade Java applications using Java 18+, adhering to object-oriented programming principles and design patterns.
• Developed and deployed Spring Boot microservices with RESTful APIs, dependency injection, exception handling, security, and ORM frameworks.
• Built scalable and resilient microservices-based architectures to support distributed business applications.
• Implemented and managed event-driven systems using Apache Kafka, including producers, consumers, topic management, message serialization, and performance tuning.
• Deployed, monitored, and managed containerized applications on Kubernetes, including pod configuration, service discovery, scaling, and troubleshooting.
• Worked with Microsoft Azure services such as Azure App Services, Azure Functions, Azure SQL Database, and Azure Cosmos DB for cloud-native application deployment and management.

What you need:
• Experience range: 6 - 10 Years
• Mandatory: Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, Kubernetes Rest API, SQL, Cosmos DB (or any NO SQL)
• Nice to have: Azure or GCP experience
• Skills and experiences: 5-6 years hands on experience in Java development at enterprise level (recent).
• Experience in working Java Version 18 or above is mandatory 3-4 years of hands-on experience with Kafka 2-3 years of solid experience in Kubernetes
• Strong programming skills in Java, including object-oriented programming principles, design patterns, and familiarity with Java frameworks
• Understanding of microservices architecture and experience in building and deploying microservices-based applications
• Hands-on experience in developing Spring Boot applications, including dependency injection, ORM (Object-Relational Mapping), and REST API development Knowledge of Microsoft Azure cloud platform, including Azure App Service, Azure Functions, Azure SQL or COSTMOS DB Familiarity with Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Deployment (CD) practices, including automated testing, build pipelines, and deployment strategies
• Proficiency in writing SQL queries as per industrial standards, fine-tuned for optimization
• Strong problem-solving abilities, good communication (written & verbal) skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team are also important for this role.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, or a related field is required as it is a complex specialized program
• Candidate should be available for in person (face to face) evaluation and is expected to go in detail about the recent project roles and responsibilities.
Compensation can differ depending on factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, education, and level of experience. UST provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in various U.S. markets as set forth below.
Role Location: California
Compensation Range: $94,000-$141,000
