Role: Java Backend Developer

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Java Backend Developer with strong hands on experience in enterprise application development, distributed architectures, Spring frameworks, REST and SOAP services, application servers, relational databases, and full software development lifecycle practices.

The ideal candidate will have recent hands on Java development experience and the ability to design, develop, test, deploy, troubleshoot, and support enterprise scale applications. Strong communication, analytical, problem solving, and collaboration skills are essential.

Required Skills
• In depth experience designing and working with n tier architectures, including UI, business logic, and data access layers
• Experience with distributed architectures and integration hubs such as DataPower, Mule, or other ESB technologies
• Strong experience with Spring MVC, Spring Boot, Spring Data, Spring Core, and Spring Transactions
• Strong understanding of J2EE frameworks and architecture internals
• Experience with JSP, EJB, Servlets, JNDI, JDBC, JMS, and JTA transaction services
• Experience with Log4J and Java thread management
• Experience developing asynchronous Java processes
• Experience developing REST and SOAP services using JAX WS, JAX RS, and/or Spring Framework
• Experience building enterprise scale applications with end to end build, packaging, and deployment
• Experience with application servers such as WebSphere and JBoss
• Strong experience developing unit test cases using JUnit, Mockito, Jest, or similar frameworks
• Experience with relational databases such as Oracle or similar technologies
• Strong understanding of database principles and SQL beyond basic data access
• Knowledge of SDLC processes
• Experience with application lifecycle management tools such as JIRA
• Must have recent hands on development experience
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Ability to quickly learn new concepts and technologies
• Self motivated, independent, detail oriented, and a strong team player

Preferred Skills
• Experience optimizing SQL queries for performance using indexes, partitioning, and other techniques
• Experience writing complex SQL queries using joins, subqueries, and other advanced techniques
• Experience troubleshooting and debugging SQL performance issues
• Experience using profiling tools to identify database performance bottlenecks
• Frontend development experience with React or Angular
• Node.js experience
• Experience mentoring junior developers
• Experience leading technical designs
• Experience performing code reviews
• Knowledge of automated code review tools
• Ability to collaborate with product, engineering, and business teams
• Experience working in complex enterprise environments
• Strong understanding of software implementation best practices
• Experience working with Agile development processes

Key Responsibilities
• Design, develop, and maintain enterprise scale Java applications
• Develop backend services using Spring and J2EE technologies
• Design and implement distributed application architectures
• Develop REST and SOAP APIs for enterprise applications
• Build and maintain integrations using DataPower, Mule, or other ESB technologies
• Develop asynchronous Java processes and transaction based services
• Design and implement database solutions using relational database technologies
• Write and optimize complex SQL queries
• Develop comprehensive unit test cases to ensure application quality and reliability
• Package and deploy applications across WebSphere, JBoss, and other application servers
• Troubleshoot application, integration, database, and performance issues
• Participate in code reviews and technical design discussions
• Collaborate with product, engineering, business, and technical leadership teams
• Analyze business and technical requirements and translate them into scalable software solutions
• Follow established SDLC and Agile development practices
• Contribute to software quality, maintainability, performance, and reliability
• Mentor junior team members when required
• Adapt quickly to existing enterprise environments and technologies

Education Requirement

Relevant education in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field is preferred.
