Summary:

The Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Project Manager is responsible for the oversight of ITS initiatives throughout planning, design, construction, implementation, testing, and ongoing operations and maintenance (O&M). Primary responsibilities include daily oversight of project scheduling, budgeting, resource planning, risk management, and quality; the development of comprehensive project management plans and supporting documentation; ongoing coordination and liaison support between organizational and third-party stakeholders; the identification and documentation of organizational and technical project requirements; support throughout the procurement of third-party contractors, integrators, and vendors; technical coordination throughout ITS construction, integration, and commissioning; support during the development, implementation, and verification of ITS testing plans, processes, and procedures; proactive identification and resolution of ITS project-related conflicts, and management reporting.

Starting Rate: $97,836/annually - $128,731/annually - $167,351/annually

Retention Bonus: $1,500

Responsibilities:
  • Leads complex, multi-stakeholder ITS projects from initiation through O&M, ensuring continued compliance with organizational scope, schedule, and budgetary requirements.
  • Manages ITS project resources, including internal and third-party resource allocation and tracking, project team performance assessment, conflict identification and resolution, and guided mentorship.
  • Develops and maintains comprehensive risk management plans to proactively identify and document ITS project risks and oversees the development, evaluation, and tracking of risk response strategies.
  • Acts as a liaison and primary point-of-contact between internal ITS technical teams, business units, and multidisciplinary stakeholders to define organizational and technical ITS requirements and to ensure timely technical support throughout the ITS project lifecycle.
  • Supports ITS-related procurement activities, including the assessment of project sourcing strategies, the development of procurement and solicitation materials, and the selection and contracting of third-party contractors, integrators, and vendors.
  • Conducts ongoing quality reviews of ITS project progress, team performance, and deliverables to ensure compliance with organizational policies, requirements, and best practices.
  • Manages technical personnel responsible for the development of ITS testing and commissioning plans and ensures ongoing assessment and validation of technical system performance.
  • Continually monitors project performance and status and creates management reports to educate and inform executives, managers, and stakeholders.


Qualifications:

M inimum:
  • A bachelor's degree in computer science , electrical engineering or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrable experience managing complex ITS project initiatives.
  • 5-7 years' experience in ITS, transportation technology, or related field, including 3+ years in project management or technical leadership.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Valid driver's license.
Preferred:
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Knowledge of industry standards including NTCIP, NEMA, IEEE, NEC and related ITS standards and specifications.
  • Experience in the deployment of ITS field equipment and electrical components.
  • Experience with cybersecurity principles applied to transportation systems.
